Well my desktop is having some problems. A few months ago I went to turn it on and the monitor wouldnt get the signal no matter what I did , then I took it to cousin who knows about computers and he opened it up and after trying everything it finally turned on. A few weeks later same thing happened , i disconected all the cables and put them up again and it worked , a few days later same thing , this time i had to wait a few days before it wanted to turn on. It got to the point where the monitor problem would happen everytime I turn it on, and then lately its been getting blue screens of death. What do I do?

Info on my computer:

Windows Vista

ATI RAdeon 4870

AMD PHenom 9500 Quad Core 2.2GHz

3Gb Ram

if you bought the PC from a shop then return it and get it exchanged.

Crap, I doubt I have warranty anymore plus when I bought the 4870 , i moved all the parts to a bigger case since the other was too small and the prob nulled any warranty if I had any.

If it is your motherboard then try to find out what one you have in your case, then get a replacement.

Yeah, unless you take precautions, the motherboard is usually the first component to fail. There could still be other issues though...

I shall list the possible causes from greatest chance to least. 1. your mobo is crappy out on ya 2. It is possible that your psu is having trouble powering that gpu. Since you have yet to give us any specs... 3.The card could be faulty. 4. your cord is messed up though I highly doubt it. You can just get a new MoBo and it will likely solve the problem.
