hi again,
i was going to get a laptop with all the nice fixings, but i kept wondering that any moment some company is gonna pop out a new model with a whole new specs, leaving me behind.

i just want to have one model that i can be happy with for at least 3-4 years.

this is what i have my eye on at the moment:

NP9262 Series
- 17" Wide Viewing Angles WUXGA LCD with Super Glossy Surface (1920 x 1200)
- Compact Media Center Remote Control & IR Receiver, fits in Express Card slot - MCE Interface Required
- 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz - 2 X 2048MB
- Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module
- Genuine MS Windows® VISTA Home Premium 32/64-Bit Edition
- 8X DVD±R/RW/4X + DL Super-Multi Drive & Software
- 160GB 7200rpm SATA 300 Hard Drive
- Intel® Core 2 Quad Q6700 (2.66GHz, 8MB L2 Cache, 1066FSB)
- TVT-6010, USB ATSC HDTV / ANALOG TV TUNER
- Dual Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX Graphics with 512MB DDR3 Video Memory in SLI mode

but i really would want to know what you ppl have in ur laptops. right now, i dont pretty much care about the brand, but what specs u really have...

and please NO RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A DESKTOP. i cant have one since i am always travelling and a desktop would be useless to me.

since its all these goodies in one laptop, u can expect a real wallet-buster price ($4000).
and the SAGER is the company responsible for this.
to be honest i think thats the cheapest price im going to get for this kind of laptop.

hee hee, nope. right now, im going INSANE!!!!

i was actually going to place an order but it hit me, that if i do get this one, maybe they would
a whole new model that would make mine look crappy.

im trying to determine what kinda laptops u guys have and see from that if im with everyone or behind or ahead
(that was pretty much my ulterior motive).

i dont want to make a expensive mistake, thats all...

Looks like your reservations were well-founded. Don't know how long the high-end 9 series will take to hit the market though...

MOST excellent find luamhtrad. that was a definite close call...
if there is a possibility of the 9M series to hit the market, then there is a possibility of a new quad-core processor to also hit the market, maybe a Quad-extreme processor (but that might be taking a huge leap of faith)

Kobalt Commanche SLI:

Q9450 ---- 2x 8800M GTX in SLI

4GB DDR2-800 ---- 2x 200GB 7200RPM RAID 0

Blu-Ray Drive ---- 1920x1200 17" X-Glass Screen

Vista Ultimate x64

For those of you wanting a high end laptoo, it would be worth waiting for the mobile 9800GT cards or whatever is coming out.

Why am I wrong, I posted a XPS laptop in order to help the guy who posted this. You ask why I didn't give him a laptop with 1.5 gigs of RAM and I tell you that thats because the config on MY link not yours only has the choice of 4 gigs of RAM. You post yours saying it's not true. You took a different config. On DELL there is like three different configs for that XPS. So where am I wrong hear 'sir' ?

:| Priceless. Okay, here we go: First, the 1.5GB refers to your post in the topic creator's previous thread found here. Second, configurations don't mean jack. It's the same laptop. Dell will exclude certain lower end options from some of it's configurations to encourage the buyer to make more of an enthusiast choice in their overall purchase. Bottom line is though, if Dell offers it and it's compatible with the system, the right configuration is only a phone call away.

OK stop bring the RAM thing back I'm going to get nightmares

But still I just said that the config I chose was 4 gigs, I never said you couldn't buy the 2 gig. Hell, it doesn't matter cayne phonix can buy whatever he wants. I'm not trying to influence anyone into buying 4 gigs, I'd buy a ibuypower laptop. All along you been saying that I'm wrong for the only reason that my config shows only 4 gigs and yours 2 and 4. Thats a pointless argument.

It's all semantics at this point. To stay on topic, I have an XPS M1710 with a T7500 CPU, 2GB 667 DDR RAM, 7900GTX, 100GB 7200 RPM HDD, 17" 1920x1200 Gloss Display, ABG wireless, Bluetooth and a 9-cell battery that does jack crap when unplugged from the wall. What kind of laptop do you have Mr. Angry? Since that in fact is what the TC was asking for and not suggestions of different laptops for purchase.

Well, I have:

XPS M1710 (Metallic Black)

Intel Centrino Duo 1.83ghz

1gb RAM

Nvidia Geforce Go 7900GS 256mb

80GB 72000RPM HDD

1920X1200 UXGA 17'' Widescreen.

2 years old, but will still run moust games on medium/high. That Sager you're looking at is the absolute best notebook you can get at the moment, but keep in mind, once you buy, you cannot upgrade the GPU's. And even if the notebook utilzizes MXM, finding an MXM card is near immpossible, and they sell for a fortune. I personally, am quitting the notebook world and moving on to build a desktop, but if you're serious about portability, drop the $4k and go with the Sager.

P.S. Luamtrad? Are you a millionaire or something? First a M1710, then a M1210, and now and XPS 630? :P

this is just hilarious so hilarious!
here i just wanted help in something, and now a (somewhat) brutal fight is being picked up on about RAM.

whether a 4Gig RAM is needed or not, doesnt matter in this topic (maybe that was the arguement or not, i really wasnt paying attention  ). i just needed help understanding what kind of laptops you guys have, and draw conclusions from that.

keep it civil ppl, lets all be mature about it, ey (i mean, ok)?

Just ordered an Alienware m15x myself:

15.4" 1920x1200

2.5ghz T9300

512MB 8800M

2GB of memory

320GB HD (Buying from egghead for 1/3rd the price)

I wanted to hold out for the next gen graphics card but my XPS M1710 just fried out (literally popped like a firecracker, sizzled for a few seconds, then started smoking) and is out of warranty and i just can't be without a laptop. So my laptop upgrade came faster than I had hoped. This time, I'm getting the 3yr warranty up front.
