Recently whenever I attempt to play games online I get problems ranging from games freezing at 10 second intervals, disconnections, and no server lists being loaded like in Counter Strike Source.

For CS Servers load up 99% slower and when they do appear they have 2000 ping or no response. For RPGs the games freezes for 1-10 seconds occasionally making it unplayable.

My connection is fine and I confirmed it with my ISP, I've done scans for virus/spyware/adware and all that stuff, defraging, disk clean up, deleting unnecessary files and more scans and anything I can think of to no success in fixing my problem.

I can play games offline (ex: Half Life 2), do web surfing and chatting and thats about it.

Any help?

Just saying, but confirming with your ISP doesn't really mean anything. Of course they'll say your connection is fine because they want you to stay with them as opposed to you switching to their rival ISP.

Do a speed test here: http://www.speedtest.net/
and post your results.

Also. Where do you live? This is important because server location compared to your location could affect connections.

Do you have a router? If you do, are your games Port Forwarded correctly?

Are the correct/updated drivers for your network card installed?

I get like 1300 kbps download speed, 534kbps upload speed. I live in Vancouver, Canada. And I guss its port forwarded correctely, I never had any problems till now. I'm not sure about the drivers for my network card, but this problem started all of a sudden one day.

Did anything happen that day? You added a router? Or you found a mouse chewing on cable? Anything?

And hello fellow Canadian =] I live in Calgary.

Your connection speed is not that great to be honest. Unless you actually meant kB and not Kb, but I doubt it.

Nothing happened. Just one day I got this crap happening for no reason. I've been living with this connection speed for years so its not the problem.

The only thing I can think of is somehow, your network settings got messed. If it's possible, see if you can run your games using a different network (ex. bring your computer to a friends house and see if your games run smoothly there)

The best thing to do, would be to isolate the problem and find out where it's coming from

Oh yeah, my bro has no problems on his PC. Seems that I'm the only one affected.

It's late and I'm getting tired =P I can't seem to think of anything other than your network settings must have been screwed up. Check to see everything is okay. If your IP is supposed to be Dynamic, make sure it hasn't changed to Static or vice-versa. Also, make sure any Firewall programs aren't intruding on your connection (ex. Zone Alarm).

Haha, thanks for the help. I'll most likely have to resort to reformatting cause it might be some messed up internal problem with my PC, cause I'm running out of ideas on how to fix it. I'm out too...I'll check back when I wake up.
