So i currently have a gtx 295, and im running one 26inch monitor. i want to buy 2 new 20inch monitors and hook them up, but i think i will need another graphics card to do that. Can i just get a cheap one and plug one into there, and 2 into my gtx 295? how does that work?

You can also buy a Matrox TripleHead 2 Go if you want to stick with just the GTX295. Triple-monitor has long been a staple for some flight sim users.

TH2G is best if you want to game in triple monitor since your GTX 295 should be beefy enough for it. If it's just for multidisplay in Windows, stick with adding a cheap video card.

He is using different sized monitors though. A triplehead2go would be pointless.

It's not a pretty sight when trying to game with differently sized monitors. I personally found it distracting. But if it's strictly for Windows/non-gaming use, then it's okay. Like what was mentioned earlier, the cheaper option would be to buy a low-cost video card. The TH2G isn't exactly cheap at something like US $270.

Just remember that if you try to game using two video cards, the two monitors hooked up to the GTX 295 may be fine. But, the one connected to the second video card may lag if that card is weak.

SoftTH may do what you ask if you're willing to buy another PCIe graphics card, though it doesn't have to be a powerful second card since the GTX 295 does all the heavy lifting like you want. I've never used it myself, though, if only because I only have one PCIe graphics card whatsoever and barely have enough desk space for two monitors, let alone three. (And let's not get into how all of my displays are very different...)

Just get an 8400gs to drive the third display. It's what I use for my 2nd and thrid display. I just hooked one monitor to my main video card, works great. Softth, is for playin games, I don't think the TC is interested in that that too much. I have used softth's config, it's pretty nice for dx8, and 9 apps, but with different sized monitors it doesn't make a whole lota sense.

I find it hard to believe SoftTh can't get Flight Simulator X to do triple-monitor. It's one of the most used with multimonitor. If it's just for multitasking in Windows, multimonitor should work right off the bat so long as the drivers and control panels have the option (some built-in Windows video drivers don't).

Flight Simulator X works fine in softth's config. It just can't run any dx10 or 11 apps.
