I currently have a Linksys WRT160 N as my main router in my basement with my Xbox, Wii ect hardwired directly to it. Only problem is, the wireless upstairs is quite poor and I need it to be faster. I have an old D-Link DI-624 that I was planning on using as the wireless bridge to put in the upstairs and have my desktop and upstairs Xbox running off it. Only problem is, that particular router doesnt support bridging so I was thinking of making that my main router (Put in the basement and hardwire Xbox and Wii to it) and using the Linksys WRT160 N as the bridged router (Upstairs and wirelessly connect my desktop, and laptops and hardwire my other Xbox). Can someone explain to me how to do this? Thanks in advance!

Faced with the same issue I purchased a cheap router that is compatible with DDWRT. Unfortunately your D-Link doesn't seem to be supported but have a look at this method to see if it is something you are interested in.

why dont you just get a linksys signal booster and set it up upstairs since you have the main router in the basement. that way you dont have to move anything and i think the booster is only liike mabybe 30 bucks...

edit: good taste. i have the same router and its in the basement. the only thing is that i only have wireless laptops upstairs and all my gaming is done in the basement so theres no lag issue. which is fine because its cooler in the basement and less chance for overheating. anyway i have no issue with streaming on my laptops.

you also gotta take into consideration if you have any other devicesupstairs that might be causing interference....
