Hey guys my set up is a e8400 precessor stock 3.0 ghz. Two gigs of ocz ram, a nvedia 8800 GT and a Corsair 650 watt powersupply. This is my first attempt to over clock to 3.6, I think as of now I left the voltages on auto but set my ram timings and ram voltage at 1.2 running 800mhz. According to the Nvidia monitor my MCP PCI-E is red at 2500.000MHZ, FSB is yellow at 1.3000V,HT(SPP-MCP) is red at 1.2000V,PCI-E is red at 1.4000V and Nforce is red at 1.50000V. Any help I want settings I should put in the bios? Thanks guys..
If you had to increase your CPU voltage when overclocking to 3.6ghz, then you have a bad batch. Dont put your CPU voltage on auto. Set it manually to stock voltage. Getting to 3.6ghz should be easily obtainable with stock settings, along with a good aftermarket cooler, or in some cases with stock cooling.
Thats what I read because 3.6 is a simple overclock for my set up. Does anyone know the stock settings? I thought auto would put it on the stock settings..
I really depends on your motherboard on what you can achieve for stock CPU voltage. I've had two different motherboards for this PC with the same E8500. I started with a low 1.19v on my Asus mobo, but with my old Asrock mobo, it started with 1.23v.
It should say in your BIOS when you go in to change the voltages and stuff. If you have a good motherboard and BIOS, it will say on the right side. Wave over to your CPU Voltage and it should show up on the right side. My mobo does.
