the game is still less than a month old, so there's no way to tell what teh computer players are going to do, because I've been playing on the XBox servers, but after my month is up then I'll go to only playing the dedicated servers, and I imagine most others will be doing the same, because paying Microsoft to play against a bunch of 13 year olds just isn't my idea of fun.
Live wouldn't suck so hard if it didn't take 15 minutes to find a match to play, not to mention the FEES. I'm not a moaner about paying for worthwhile services, but I'm on a PC, and been doing the same crap for years and can't justify re newing after my free month of Gold.
I think it's a fun game, just a bit overpriced, I've had Live for a few years so paying for a Gold account isn't a big thing for me, but I don't think you "need" Live to play. you can see what platform people are on, but only if they are on your friends list
