Is there a way to reduce it? every game i play on my ps3 with hdmi cables looks crap

im pretty annoyed because i thought that it being 1080p and 100hz would make my games look very nice but now i wanna go back t my 22'' samsung monitor i had been using.

games dont even display in 100hz only 60.........

For games, you want to play in 60Hz.

Also, Sharp TV's are known for this. They have ghosting problems and burn-in problems. If you can return it, do so, and remember there are only a handful of good brands.

Try to only go for Samsung, Sony, and Vizio.

I don't think Sharp Aquos ever came in 100hz??? What would be the point 100hz does not divide into 24,30, or 60 and part of the point of high refresh rate was to accurately display each frame setting without frame adjustments. I have a Sharp Aquos 120hz, and it does not run at 120hz unless you turn it on. There is an option called Motion Enhanced Mode, which is found in the settings. Turn on Motion Enhance and it will run at 120hz. I find that at 120hz the motion blur is minimal.

Yes you're right games don't run at 120hz, NOTHING except for James Cameron's AVATAR runs at 120hz. Games run at either 30hz or 60hz, movies run at 24hz, and TV programs shot on video run at 29.97hz. The point of 120hz or 240hz is to give the LCD tvs less motion blur by raising refresh rates. For every signal it gets it simply divides the native frame rate by it's native refresh rate, and then repeats each frame according per signal.

My suggestion try to look for Motion Enhance in the settings and turn that on. Don't turn on Smooth Motion or Motion Plus, this will enage Soap Opera mode.

Sharp Aquos is a very strong brand. Better than Samsung or Vizio in my opinion. Vizio doesn't even make it's own panels, probably gets them from Sharp.

i have 32" Sharp Aquos and don't have an issue with ghosting. Don't think I did anything special with settings. It's at 60hz default for me.

Probably a PAL TV, they run 50 Hz and 100 Hz. My HDTV has 100 Hz too.

@ TC: You should return it. Always read tests before buying a TV, i bought a 40" 1080p Sony, it was place 2 in a test out of 25 HDTVs and #1 was 2000 Euro more but the Sony had the highest mark in the picture quality category.

You should also look at the response time of the TV, it should be 8ms grey to grey or below for gaming. Some manufactures like Samsung don't give away the response times on their homepage so you have to google a bit to find it.

The only brands I would ever buy are Lg,Samsung and Sony. Ive had an LG for about 2 years now and it still looks amazing compared to todays standards.

maybe that posting above is correct? Maybe you have a PAL tv since it's 100Hz, which isn't the US standard, and is the reason why your tv is ghosting. Cuz 100Hz/60Hz or 100Hz/30Hz gives you an odd number? I don't know.... But where did you purchase your tv? Did you order it?

Anyhow, I have a Sharp 32" Aquos LC-32Dxx something, I forgot the exact model number, but it works really well. I've played Halo 3, Gears of War, pretty much every game on it, and don't notice any ghosting. Super happy with the purchase. My friend, however, had an older Aquos 32"model and we did notice a lot of ghosting playing Gears of War. He bought his at Circuit City (back in 2007) and eventually returned it for a Samsung. His Aquos was a 2006 model, and my Aquos was a 2008 model. I was a little hesitant to get a Sharp after my friend's experience, but the deal was so good at the time, I had to give in and give it a shot.

i put on the mode like you said but it doesn't noticably change anything as far as i can tell anyway. it still sais 60hz when i put on fine motion or whatever..........does it not work for games becuse they are naturally 60hz or less?

i cant find the refresh in ms like someone suggested either, the policy of the place i bought from is not to take returns unless they are broken or they gave me the wrong thing etc.............

My guess is that the set has a poor pixel refresh rate. Look for a higher end Sharp model or Samsung or Sony and be sure to see them in motion to make sure you like them. I don't think Vizio sells in Australia, but Vizio is a crap shoot as they buy their panels from different manufacturers based on price and models. Some are very good deals, others not so much.
