I wouldn't get the EVGA 670. The reference 670's are kind of cheaply made. Mine had an annoying buzz coming from the fan. If you read owner reviews, it seems to be quite a common problem with the reference 670's.
The non-reference cards are generally of a better build quality. Better heat sinks, better fans, better PCB's, more head room for overclocking.
The only reason to buy EVGA is because of their customer support at the expense of quality. If you get a non-reference, you are getting higher quality at the expense of customer support. I would also look at the EVGA FTW--non-referece PCB. Im not sure if it has a better heatsink, but if it does it would definitely be worth the extra money.
Its all about what you are looking for. If you value customer support above everything else then go with EVGA. Also, if you want the exhaust type cooler if you have a case with low air flow.
But yes, I would definitely get a 670 of some kind. Its an awesome card. Best value atm imo. My EVGA 670 went back to Amazon for a refund because of the defective fan and I'm planning on getting an Asus or Gigabyte. The ASUS 670 looks like the best card (with the worst CS).
Have a look at the cheap reference heatsink:

Then have a look at the Asus card:

The heatsink runs along the entire length of the PCB.

Thank you for the feedback, that is actually, (EVGA FTW) the card I was looking at getting, saw them at Newegg for $419.00. Appparently the EVGA Superclocked has been recalled as their was some issue pre-testing at the factory and some of the cards slipped through and have now been recalled, and EVGA is offering these customers the FTW as a replacement. I see this card better, because its Core Clock is 1006 MHz as apposed the Superclocked version that is at 967 MHz, and for us as gamers this means more fps, and fps means life.
I agree with everything you said. You would do very well with that card. I actually regretted not getting a defective card OC for the freebie upgrade (I bought the standard 670). One thing to be careful of is the cooling solution on the FTW. I know they have a better PCB, but I have yet to find any info or photos on the fans or heatsink (if they are the same low quality reference stuff).
If you want good customer support above everything else then that is the card for you. Their customer support is the best i've seen. But, don't jump into it without looking at the gigabyte or asus cards. As far as I know gigabytes and asus's customer support are **** (asus is worse), but their cards are of a better quality. Better enough to justify worse customer support? I don't know. Its all about your preference. Kind of a toss up imo.
Another thing is, if you are in the US, I would look at buying from Amazon. Also the best customer support. My 7870 was crap. I called them at 7 pm and they sent me a new one by 2pm the next day. No shipping charges whatsoever. Very impressive considering I lived in the upper peninsula of Michigan (the middle of no where). Then they accepted a full refund after none of the cards worked due to driver issues. Amazon is amazing. With Amazon and EVGA, you would have double coverage.
Thanks for the advice, but as I was looking at Amazon they didn't have the FTW's as of yet, and yes I would always buy if from Amazon, as I am an Amazon Prime Member. Thanks also for the advice on the PCB, I have yet to see a picture either, but what I read is that it uses the same one as the 680 GTX so most likely it may be a better design, should have one within a few weeks, so I will know for sure.
