I've heard great things about it, is it really active? Also do I need the expansion pack as well in order to play it? Thanks.

I'll just say this from what I've played of it. The game is hard, the odds are stacked highly against you. It's more one of those games where you have a timer just counting until you die because it's almost guaranteed to happen pretty quickly (though it does make it very tense). Nighttime (which lasts an actual 12 hours) is nerve wracking, hearing footsteps or even worse a zombie out in the pitch black (literally, no ambient light whatsoever) will make you almost sh*t yourself, especially after a long stretch of silence and walking or hiding. The issue I currently have is that a huge % of the zombies are the "olympic track running style" zombies, which I absolutely dislike. It's not as much the fact that they run, but they run way too damn fast and the engine is already terrible enough handling without mobs running around erratically and weirdly (the crouching zombies creep me out hard). Forget being spotted at night, you're basically f*kked at that point since they never stop following and they virtually never lose track of you with their amazing pyschic zombie BS powers. It's a fun game, or at least it will be, but it needs a LOT more development. That said, if you have a little cash to kill and are hankering for the pain in the ass of running the mod then go right ahead, I can at least guarantee that the mod will creep you the heck out or scare the **** out of you depending on where/when you play it.

The game is actually really easy once you get a hang of ARMA 2 controls. Just don't trust anybody and try to avoid people. If you need someone to play with or teach you the ropes let me know.

I've been tempted myself, but I lack Operation Arrowhead. If possible, then you should hold out until the Steam Summer Sale, which is bound to be here within a month or two. The game (+ Exp Packs) has been on sale before and will likely be so again.

Almost overly populated now. A third of the time you have problems loading into the map because the master server is overloaded. It is still very much in alpha and has plenty of development left to go, but so far i love the mod. It is hard and has a high learning curve, but it is very rewarding.

Definitely. All the servers are often full with players so it can take a while to join, but no worries of low population. Also don't forgot to check out the game itself, the coop servers are brilliant imo.

It's pretty darn fun. However, you can definitely tell it's in alpha stage. There are loads of bugs, and gameplay elements that need to be tweaked (I still find it unfair how fast zombies move in all directions, which makes it very difficult to shoot them once they're on to you).

Looks like a great mod but as mentioned the zombies moving really fast is annoying. Ive been watching some youtube videos on it and the zombies are the least of your problem, its other players that are the biggest threat. If you have good gear chances are someone will try and kill you for it.

Arma 2 is going to implement this mod in a new patch once the mod is completed. so you could buy the game first and wait without the OpArrowhead.

If you can get past the meh controls of Arma II yes, otherwise just wait for it to be a full release in a year or to.

Servers are overloaded with the amount of people trying to connect all the time. Definitely NO shortage of population at all!!

This game may be the best mod to come out in the last 10 years, and its still in ALPHA for pete's sake. Amazing.

Just keep in mind that it's an ALPHA. I've known some people to get instantly fed up with the mod because they don't realize this or don't care to think what it means. There may be lots of bugs, voip is kinda broken right now, and you may have a hell of a time finding a server that actually lets you create and/or load your character.

But if it's something that really intrigues you, go for it. There is lots of fun to be had, and there's not really any other gaming experience like it.

If your interested in the mod you should seriously watch 'The Days Ahead' videos over on your tube. Not only is it funny but it shows you how much fun this mod is. Check it outhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRpPIyJDSEQ&feature=relmfu

No, it's fairly popular and all but it runs like ass, the community is stupid and it's just not worth 30 bucks.

I recommend trying to gain someone's trust and joining a small group if you can. When your solo avoid large towns and keep a listen for gunfire. Head towards the gun fire and keep at very safe distance usually hide in bush or a tree line. If its a group keep your distance and watch them closely, if you see them kill other players keep away if they help other players join them because some people like a larger group because you can go in more populated areas. If it's another solo player equip a pistol and walk to him with caution. If you have a rifle they might kill you for the weapon if he thinks your not much of a threat he will let you get close to see what you want. It's a fun mod and actually represents what would happen in this kind of situation when at first your grouped and helping you get split up supplies dwindle and you start not trusting and murder each other.

Yes you should buy ARMA2 and Operation Arrowhead (together they makde combined ops). Or you can just buy the combined ops deal.

Day Z is a ton of fun!

I find going solo into big towns is best. I can move quickly and quietly, and draw much less attention than a group would.
