it's brilliant, but other than the latest patch, play it vanilla first time - it has a great sense of atmosphere, space and mystery, and doesn't need the bells and whistles of Oblivion Lost or any other mods
Despite its bugs S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is an awesome FPS/Role-Playing game. But it requires a lot & lot & lot of patience to play........Even at the easiest setting it is the most difficult game i've ever played but still like it a lot due its rich atmospheric gameplay........
Just to add a contrasting view point..... Stalker is a game people either love or hate. I didn't like it personally. It's graphics are really not up to standard. More importantly though the game play was a little too hard for my taste. It starts out slow. And the biggest things for me was that it just wasn't fun. I never could get into it.
Having said all that, What is stalker now? $15 max? I think you should buy it and decide for yourself unless money is really tight. If money is an issue I would try something else.
It's a great game but still has it's flaws, I would reccomend it. When it's installed patch it up to 1.005 ONLY then install the Oblivion Lost 1.3 mod, it adds a lot of the content removed from the original game, theres a FULL description and install guide for it on Filefronts
Yes its a good game, if a little rough around the edges.
Not sure how much it is on Steam, but I saw it for £6 in the Zavvi sale a few weeks back. Definitely worth it at that price, and I wasn't disappointed having paid full price when it was new.
