Well, I have enough money to buy a 2900xt and use onboard sound, or a 8800gts and get a xfi card. What should I do?

Those speakers aren't great by any means, but they arent terrible, and will definitely give you a noticeable boost in sound quality if you get a sound card. Now, I would reccomend getting the better graphics card and just buying a cheaper Audigy SEwhen you can save up another $30 because I don't think that you will notice much of a difference for being less than half the price of the x-fi. Yes, you will not get to choose x-fi settings in games, but I think for your budget an x-fi isn't a great option. That card will still give you hardware acceleration, up to EAX 3.0, an equalizer, and better sound quality.BaselerdI'm probably going to do that. Then buy xfi later when I also upgrade my speakers, which will be like 1 year.
Definately go with the 2900xt as that's whats you'll make the best use out of. Then later on you can add a cheaper sound card as Baselerd said. Besides, you don't know the difference between onboard and external so you won't miss it for now :).
By the way, your avatar still kills me.
