Sup guys ive been looking into getting a new computer one good for hd games and I was wondering whether I should. I am currently a console gamer and I don't know whether it would be better to play games on pc if I get one.

I think you should. I was almost console exclusive until about a year and a half ago. Migrating to a PC was the best thing I ever did, gaming wise.

Better graphics
Better games (although PS3 still gets some damn good exclusives, so I keep it around just for those.)
Overall cheaper games (they tend to be $50 upon release on Steam, and Steam often has amazing sales that you'll never find for console games.)
Keyboard and mouse are better for most games. You may still prefer a controller for awhile, due to being so adapted to it, but you can get it working with most games with the right applications.
Many cla.ssics that have a big following end up actually earning the title of "timeless cl.assic" through fan mods for either game mechanic or graphical improvements.

Now is the best time to get a gaming PC. You can get something for very cheap that will easily outperform consoles, and thanks to DD you will be able to get a lot of games very cheap.

Yep and a lot of components seem to be cheap at the moment 8) I will add though you would do far better putting it all together yourself than buying anything premade. All it will take once you are set up is one steam sale and you will have far too many games to play :P.

don't spend alot of money on a gaming pc. gaming pcs are overpriced. you should be able to get a very good one that plays alot of games (maybe not the newest ones but alot) for about $800.

It depends.

PC gaming sure are different then console gaming, often more of an enthustiast thing, The Below are creteria I think would be normal IF you would like PC gaming:

1) Do you like rts games? this genre is pretty much unique to the pc, and having a taste for them will instantly grant you around 30 or so really good games, if not, it is about 30 good games you will ignore

2) Do you like to tinker with your games? The PC is currently the only platform that allows users to alter, and play with the game itself, not just play the game, Mods, commands and so on are commonplace here, and a Mod REALLY can make a game alot better (it is legal, and most often really easy). If you do not plan on using mods, or play with the game itself, then alot of the PC potential is wasted out the gates.

3) Do you reallylike MP games (or rather, do you demand the best you can get)? Lets get it out of the way, the PC has the best online servises, but if you are more of a single player pweson then this wont matter :P

4) Do youthink you can adabt to KB/M? Ofcourse this being the PC you can use any kind of controller, but in alot of games the KB/M combo is the best utilized and funktional

5) Do you want to play games from this gen only? Or do you also want to check out the classics? This gen only the PC has had the most high scoring games of any pltform, but its backwards compatability gives a near endless amount of games.

I would say that if atleast2 of those creteria is met, then youshould atleast consider getting a PC for some gaming ^^ It is a different platform, and generally different then the consoles in community aswell, it is hard to explain but when a new game gets out alot of people are talking, giving advise on how to eleminate bugs or errors, I think this fast makes the PC community a closer knit one then most other communitys in general because they aleays help withproblems (Theconsoles, not having other aplications but games, and no way to fix errors yourself leaves this out from consoles).

Steam and other DD services always stand by to delivermountains of games for low prices, and you can find the strangestthings on such services.

If you could not agree with any of the above points, I wouldnot say that you would like PC gaming per default, you still could, but I think it would be limited, and you would likely feel cheated.

If you do consider getting agaming PC, I would advice you to headdown to thePC hardware thread, up here are mostlygamers, for and about games, down there, they are thebest bet for finding out how much it costs to get a PC that fits what you want (Just don't let them persuade you into "building it yourself" if you have no history with doing so whatsoever, it is sometimes an expencive mistake to make). Just sling them a budget, and what you want out of it ^^

I'm currently a console gamer, but i'm thinking about getting a gamer PC too. I'm thinking about getting an AlienWare or something like that. PCs are beasts when you have everything at max. And yeah, just like Deathykins said; PS3 got some damn powerful exclusives, and alot of them. But yes, go get that gamer PC. :)

I wouldn't get an AlienWare to be honest. You can build something just as good for much less if you do it yourself. Save those extra thousands of dollars for games! :P
