I always hear horror stories about people getting VAC banned from steam without cheating, people losing their accounts or getting hacked.

I have about 30 games on my account, would it be wise to get another from now on, spread out games on differen accounts to prevent losing all of them.

What do you all think?

Stupid people, there's no way to say it better.

You can't get VAC banned without cheating ( I only heard about 3 people getting VAC banned without even playing on Steam during that time, because their name was similar to the one reported doing such a thing, Valve fixed all of them).
You can only get your account banned for acting like a jerk online, swearing, trolling, trying to steal accounts and such.
And it's impossible to get hacked, unless you're infected with severe viruses or do stupid things (giving your account info to people, signing up for free Steam games - no such thing -, sharing accounts, sharing email accounts).

For your Steam account to get stolen that certain person needs your account info and your email account, if you're afraid that might happen then even something as simple as multiplayer gaming isn't safe.

Don't get a new account, just don't cheat. Pretty simple. Besides, would you feel any better if you lost only 30 games as opposed to 100 games?

There is a very little , if inexistance, chance of getting wrongfully banned ... and valve usually fixes that problem when contacted, so there is nothing to worry about. Keep playing on one account.

You can make a new account for every game you buy, if you want.... The down side is that it's going to be near impossible to keep your friends list updated across accounts. As for disabled accounts, having multiple accounts is not going to matter. They have the right to disable all of them tied to you, even if one of the accounts gets tagged for breaking their rules... Such as buying/selling gifted games via Ebay, or account sharing for examples. They find you doing something like that, they'll disable all of the accounts that share the same IP or credit card.

As for VAC's that's purely an automated system... and based on an account to account bases. It won't VAC ban everything, like they'll do when disabling an account.

As long as you use you're Steam guard thing and you don't cheat you will be fine.

In regards to false bans, you've got to take into account that people on forums and the internet may have very well cheated and just plain deny it in the slim chance they get their account reinstated. It's funny how often the "my stupid brother used my account and cheated and now I'm banned" story comes up. I've been using it for quite a while neither I or my friends have been falsely banned by VAC. Secure password, steam guard and not letting others use your account are the keys to success.

The only problem i encountered with Steam was my own fault. I did a system restore which messed up the location of Steam, i almost ate my heart out trying to fix it. Thankfully Windows 7 made it easy and all is good now :3

I'm sure if anyone was banned without cheating Valve would unban them. No need to be so paranoid.
