If the price is not much between the two, I'd go SATA because of future proof and better air flow.roulettethedog

Airflow? Whats that got to do with a DVD-RW?

Becayse IDE cables are so big and so hard to orgnaize and which also prevent from agood air flow.
Both are almost same price, so getting aPATA one doesnt make sense at all.
Sata is the right choice. Try to get the cheapest one avalible for DVD-RW x18 from (samsung,lg, asus and lite-on)

SATA is great. I have a Lite-On SATA DVD-/+RW, and it's fast and relatively quiet.

It doesn't really matter but new PC's have more SATA that ATA connectors so SATA would be more convenient in the long term.

Thats right too. Most new mobos have only like 1 IDE plug while it has at least more than 4 Sata plus.
