ok so when the 9800GTX comes out presumably the 8800GTX's prices will go down
so should i go for another 8800GTX or just sell my 8800GTX to a friend and add some more money for a 9800GTX????

isnt the 9800GTX meant to be the BEST 9000 series card (untill Ultra or something) or is the GX2 better???
and the 9800GTX has 2 GPU's put togeher right?? so thats basically a intergrated SLI setup??

I wouldn't get either since there are no games to take advantage of that much power. Crysis with 3 8800 Ultras gets around 40 FPS.

No the 9800GTX isnt 2 gpu, you are talking about 9800gx2 which is right about integrated SLI. Well, as you said wait for the benchmarks and see if its worth to get to anew card or to have dual cards.
Probably, there wont be that ''WOW'' difference because we are talknig about the same gpu gen (g92).

I'm using a 8800gt right now, and am thinkng of getting a second one (sli) once the price drops after the release of the 9800 series.

Back to your question: I believe that the 9800 series will be DX10.1 compatible, if I'm not mistaking, that may play a role in wich card you get.

Until we have hard benchmark data on the 9800GTX this discussion is mute. But if past experience holds true, that nVidia almost doubles the power of their GPU every generation, then it is usually better to just upgrade to the new top-end GPU.

It's worth bearing in mind, that the 9800GTX isn't even confirmed to exist. The 9800 GX2 is going to come out late Q1 or Q2, and is basically just two 8800 GTs stuck together with higher clocks. It will have similar performance to two 8800GTs in SLI, or two 8800 GTS in SLI (the new 512MB version).

The 9800GTX is anybody's guess... Planning purchases based around unconfirmed graphics cards is generally a bad idea.
