I don't really like it. It's a good idea, but implemented very badly. It's really just a slower paced shooter, because it's very easy to tell who the target you're after is, it just takes longer to kill them.
It's not fair that nobody is sticking up for The Ship so I would like to include my thoughts on this. The Ship is an excellent game. It was not meant for those who are used to deathmatch and various other reflex twitch games. This game makes you play like a real assasin, blending in, following a prey, waiting for the right time to strike and using whatever is available to kill. I sort of imagine like I'm James Bond in the game or something with the way you do things. This game appeals to both genders since it's not centered on adolescent male fantasies. At times you'll find yourself laughing for being killed by a rolling pin, at other times, you'll find yourself hating some other gamer because the only way to kill in this game is the sneaky and dishonorable way. You'll also end up paranoid and in constant fear of everyone around you. It's a murder simulator really, probably a fact that a lot of parents would not want to hear about. It's not a game for everyone but if you find yourself at home to this type of game, then you're in good company.Â
I bought it, played it once and kinda wished afterwards that I had'nt... Its okay, its just not really much fun unless your playing with a bunch of people you know
If you want to try the game out - get the free Half-Life 1 mod of the same name (if it is still free - it was a year ago). It's basically the same game, with worse graphics and a few less features. Actually, don't even bother with the new version unless you really enjoy the mod.
Personally, I thought that it was great - it really is a 'thinking man's deathmatch', and easily the most insidious online game I've ever played. Be warned, though - it will make you extremely paranoid!
