No. There are starving kids in China that need that subscription money.
Or you could also use it to buy a better game than WoW. Your choice
WoW is a huge time drain... you'll be spending countless hours grinding to get to 70, and then even more hours raiding.
All for what, I'm not sure.
Ok I am dead serious when I say this so please dont think i'm just hating:
WoW will ruin your life, not just in one way but in many. For one you will become utterly obsessed with it. You will never want to stop playing after just a short period of time. You'd think this is a good thing but no its not. Your hygene plumets, your diet gets skrewed and your real social life can and will likely fall apart.
As far as gaming experiences go wow is hardly one worth being proud of. Sure every now and then a raid will be fun but you will have to do that exact same raid over and over and over for countless months on end. If you want to be accepted by a 'proper' raid guild you will likely be forced to play how you dont want to as most of these guilds obsess over archetypes. Roll a warrior, wanna be dps? well to bad they wont let you because the rogue in full epics is better.
The game forces grinding, nothing absolutely NOTHING of significance can be accomplished without an absurd level of grinding. Want a particular epic weapon? well your going to need to kill 3000 bears to get it, 3000 bears of the exact same type in the exact same place.
The games world, lore and story are indeed great. And nothing else comes close to it. The interface is perfect and despite running on an ancient game engine wow overall still looks great even when compared to the latest other games. That being said you cant ignore the above problems with the game. Its just not a game woth spending time with. Because one day it'll be 3am in the morning, your girlfriend will have left you and your probably going to be fired the following day.
The game destroys lives and blizzard has gotten discustingly rich of of this.
It is not a game, its a monster, a demon, an evil like no other. Avoid it at all costs I say. You'll be glad you did.
As long as u remember it's a game...and have self-control...its great fun
IT WILL ONLY RUIN UR LIFE IF YOU LET IT

Some people have more will power than a rabbit in heat...
Yes, Go for it
Its a superior mmo its easy to get into and its alot of fun espically with freinds theres a reason its as popular as it is
saying not to get it cause of its addictive values is the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard i will admit the game tends to suck you in and makes you loose track of time but, honestly if you let wow ruin your social life, you must have not had a very good social life to start with i would never let video games interfere with my life
im looking at it and it looks good, what do you think!?jvmva
I'm not even going to bother to read the replies of "No, this game sucks!"
Those are primarily from people who hate MMO's or refuse to ever pay a subscription fee for an MMO.
But for those of us who DO like MMO's, WoW is a good game. There are others you might want to look into as well before deciding, but you really can't go wrong with WoW. They have a 10 day trial, why not just try that and see if you like it?

Yeah, assuming that post wasn't a pure troll post, this guy has serious psychological issues.
Anybody who lets a game ruin their life has a psychological problem. Don't blame the game. This fad of blaming WoW for addiction and ruining lives is exactly the same garbage as saying violent video games make kids go out and shoot people. Why people don't see that for what it is, is beyond me.

I play it and everything you listed that falls apart are perfect for me, only people with poor self-control will be like that.
To be honest its a decent game if you fan of MMORPG's, although many people reach level 70 in a period of time, its still tons of fun form lvl 20+. Additionaly if you have a vent server.
I've played it a few times, but never seemed to get in to this huge "hook" people tend to find themselves in.
i prefer ragnarok online... XD
Don't even think about it Mister!
I have already organised an intervention for you, sponsored by Gamespot!
I'm really stupid. I went out and bought WoW today, because a couple of my co-workers have been trying to get me to play it for months. So, I figured, fine. It comes with a free 30 day trial, I can play it for a month and if I still think its dumb I'll just throw it in my "games I keep to show off but never play anymore" collection. Needless to say, I didn't expect having to buy a month of gametime just to get my "free 30 days". Now, I'll have to wait until my next paycheck to actually play it (because I refuse to use my credit card). I should have known. I hate the idea of "pay to play" games (which is one of the things I hate most about X-Box also).
So, we'll see next week if its worth it. So far it looks totally over hyped and I still think I should of bought Guild Wars instead.mynameisderek85
The only stupid thing you did was not reading how the registration works. When you first register, you need to put in your credit card info, but you are not charged for a month's subscription right off the bat. You are only charged at the end of the first free month.
So, basically, put in your credit card info, register, then go to your account and cancel the subscription. You still have your free sub to play, and don't have to be worried about being charged at the end of the month.
And to the TC, just download the free trial (7 days?) and see if you like the game. Don't believe all the drama queens that say it ruins lives, those people have issues to begin with. I had no problem canceling my sub once I got bored with it.

It's a game you play solo with up to 4 friends, so don't do what I did and expect it to be like wow with no fees because it isn't.

Oh and by the way it annoys me that people say world of warcraft will ruin your life because it won't, its a game. The only thing that will ever ruin your life is you, if you are prepared to spend anything over 3 hours at a time playing WOW then you have a large chance of being addicted, and if it does happen and you do get addicted you only have yourself to blame for being sad enough to spend that much time on a game anyway, and probably having no social life in the first place.
hrmm tuff decision...i played for over 2 years and loved the heck out of it...looking back now it feels like i totally wasted 2 year of my life...just about every free moment of my life for those 2 years was devoted to playing wow...honestly it really is that addictive.
While i was playing it i enjoyed it very much...was in a good guild...made some good friends but in the end raiding sucks the life out of you...way to much of a time commentment if you want to do the cutting edge or even 1/2 way cutting edge stuff..
I say stay away and pick out a different game!!!
im looking at it and it looks good, what do you think!?jvmva
its a great game but its passed its prime. im in wotlk beta and it doesn't look THAT good. its kinda too late imo to start playing, unless you know some people who can help you two-man lowbie raids

Don't get it. It will just suck up your time.
I just wanna say, in responce to some of the posts I was reading from the front page:
I have been subscribed to WOW since May, and I have not once become 'obsessed' with it. I play it about as much as I would any other game, and it doesn't ruin my life in any way whatsoever. I think the whole idea of game obsession became so prevalent with WOW because it is a community where casual and hardcore gamers mingle, and the question of how much time spent gaming is too much was posed.
