I've rarely ever played PC games in my life, and recently our house just needs a new computer(desktop is 7 years old, parents always using my laptop which I always use, so I want a new computer). So I decided to get a high end computer from newegg around the $1300-$1400 price range.
So I've been looking up a lot of parts on newegg, and I think I've gotten all my parts, except the graphics card(all other parts are EXTREMELY high end). I don't know if I will go into PC gaming, but I sometimes think I might. I found a cheap 8600 GTS(128 bit) over clocked, but then I've had people here tell me that it's a rip off and that a 7900 is better. # wise, 8600 is higher than 7900, and I hear 8600 can do DX10. So how is the 8600 GTS bad?
Now I'm considering going for the 8800 GTS. If I get such a card, will I really need another graphics card for a while? I'll also be able to run most PC games. When we pay for this, I don't want our house paying a lot of extra $ for something we might not need. I mean what if I never really play PC games? It would just be sort of a waste. But, it is a very high end card. So what do you guys suggest? Do I go for the expensive 8800 GTS, or just go with something cheaper? I mean we have the $, but whether I need is it the question, and if it will be good for the long run.
