I played and finished Witcher 2 many times but I never bothered to play Witcher 1 because the combat system was different. Is the combat really bad when compared to Witcher 2? Is that true that most fans consider Witcher 1 better than its sequel?

remember to write back about yout thoughts when you finished it ^^
But yeah the combat was different in TW1, more oldschool RPG like, not as fluid, and possible to mess up the character build (which is somewhat a good thing I think).
Garant himself and the story, envioment and interaction are far better though.
So I would have said that you should play it ^^ the others seems to have told you to anyways ^^

I liked the combat in Witcher 1 more myself. Witcher 2 had fantastic graphics and a fantastic story but I just couldn't get itno the combat. Witcher 1 is a great game so I would recommend playing it.
I played TW2 first and then got TW1 to play. But I couldnt' bring myself to progress through it. The combat is so poor and not fun to perform at all.
Yes but do remember, the Witcher 1 is more of an normal RPG, while the Witcher 2 is kinda more of new gen liner rpg.
The story, and atmposhere in the Witcher 1 is just amazing.
W1 had better combat and story, but the sequel improved upon alchemy, magic and inventory (somewhat). Both are great games, but I have to say the first was a little better if you could stand the beginning couple of chapters.
