I bought these Headphones about a weak ago, and so far I think they are...okay. I think they sound great and they are awesome at closing out sound. However, I have a major problem with these headphones. High treble sounds with 's' hurt my ears. I'll simply be listening to a conversation between two people, one person will put a lot of emphasis on the s and it will attack my ears. I have also been playing Arkham City recently, all the radio conversations are full of static and s sounds which...again...really hurts my ears. I never had this problem with previous super lux 681 headphones.

Will this problem go away after using them longer? I have had them for a week now, and the problem is still there.

Burn them in for a couple of days with pink noise. Non-stop for maybe 3 days. If problems are still there simply return them.

How loud should I play the pink noise?

Slightly louder than listening volume. If you already listen to music/movies on max sound (presuming you don't have a sound card / amp) then just leave it on max.

It sounds like it could be clipping, try lowering the in game/master volume a bit. No matter how much treble headphones have it shouldn't be hurting your ears.

I think ill return these headphones somewhere in the next few days. They are too bright, its not enjoyable to listen to sound if it hurts my ears. Can anyone recommend similar headphones for around the same price? I like em alot, but the treble just kills it for me.

Did you read the Headphone FAQ? It has multiple recommendations in your price range. Note that you're coming from an open-back headphone in the Super Lux, so you might want to focus on something from Grado if you want a similar sound. Note also that harshness to which you are referring is called sibilance. If you continue to do research you'll want to use the term, especially if you visit Head-Fi. Good luck, Boz

Head-Fi is addicting. Beware. i just got Grado's and have modded them already. Haha. On topic. I would recommend Grado SR-80i without knowing you music preferences. What do you listen to?

Not sure why people would reccomend grado when you returned the v6 cause of treble try out the Brainwavz HM5 or KRK 8400 for closed headphones.

I recommend the Grado because his issue was sibilance, not treble (sibilance makes the "S" sound more snake-like, a problem common to metal dome tweeters), and he previously liked the sound of his open-back Super Lux 681. The Grado's have a much more refined upper frequency response than the MDR V6 without being overbearing, in my experience. I never heard of Branwavz, thanks for introducing me to the brand! In that price range I normally recommend the Audio Technica ATH-M50, but I'll check those out. Happy gaming, Boz
