NO! Save your Money! if you all realy gave Windows XP Home. Try updated it to Windowx XP Pro.

Windows Vista is buggy. and Windowx Vista Ultimate cost 400.00 I jsut refuse to pay 400.00 on that.

Its too much problems to fix the buggy stuff. I even have enough problems with Windows XP Home

I cannot run all my games becuase Windows XP uses the kernal. Lots of my stuff dose not like the Kernal.

Thats whats used on Window NT,2000,XP Home and XP pro!

Please save your money. if you realy realy need a upgrade go with Windows XP Pro. or go backwords to Windows 98se

if your computer is a older one. 754 socket

vista does not work with some open GL games yet, like doom3.  in fact, many games that aren't that old wont' work with it.  also, many hardware devices made before vista do not, and will not have vista drivers.  if you play only very new games, and have only very new hardware, it might not affect you at all.  if not, than it would be best to get a dual boot system going if you go to vista at all.

Pretty much what he said.  I have had some horrible experiences with Vista, and I myself still use XP.  I don't plan on switching until they iron the bugs out of Vista because it's just downright buggy and incompatible with everything at the moment.

i would hold off, i myself am running vista home premium. and i have encournterd alot of bugs with games. most of the games that i was able to play on XP won't run on vista @ all. the games that do run though, i notice big performance boost due the way vista handles dual core and hyper threaded cpus better than xp. i can't say the bugs are entirely vista's fault, since my video card is also fairly new and the drivers are notoriusly buggy. how i helped

I would definetly wait till SP1 or SP2 comes out for it.  I'm currently running XP Pro for my gaming system and I don't have a single problem.  So, upgrading won't be an option.  Even for games like Halo 2 that are coming out only for Vista.  Of course, if you buy a new PC you may not have a lot of choice in the matter.  Since most systems come with Vista now.    I will probably add Vista to my system once I turn my current PC into an HTPC and build a complete new gaming system.  Still, my gaming system will use XP Pro until most of the bugs are worked out of Vista.  Vista might be better once more DX10 games come out, and you get your hands on a DX10 compatible video card.  Until then, just watch and wait.

I've Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit) installed on my second computer which used to run games smooth. Now that it has Windows Vista installed it really runs games choppy/laggy. I recommend that you wait with Windows Vista until there is a Service Pack released and available for download. Windows Vista in general is really fast and is pretty much faster than Windows XP. But it seemingly doesn't support games at all. Obviously it also depends on the game whether it will run fine in Windows Vista or not but mainly it depends on the operating system itself. Good luck with your choice but I recommend that you wait just a bit longer for the first Service Pack to be released. ;)
