I never got around to doing this because I never saw the need to. Will flashing it or updating improve performance or stability? Is it even worth it to do if everything works fine?

Sometimes it can help stability with certain processors or RAM etc if its a known problem, but usually BIOS updates are usually to add support for new CPUs.

indeed i recommend never flashing your bios to anyone unless your rocking an am2+ mobo with stated am3 support which would mean oyu might be able to up to somehting much nicer than a phenokm I x4

Though I agree that if you are not having any problems there is no reason to update the bios, its's really not hard and is not something you should be afraid to do.

Its a matter of downloading an iso file and burning to a disk, pressing a couple of buttons on the keyboard when prompted, and pressing reset. Not hard.

Don't flash unless you have a really good reason to. I flashed my mobo to a new BIOS, cause I wanted to utilze Hardware Virtualization, but, the BIOS I flashed to was unstable for overclocking (dunno how Gigabyte managed that...), so I just flashed back.
