It's definitely in the works and about the only info I know is something Will Wright said which was it's going back to the basics that made it fun instead of the finical simulator it ended up as in SC4.
The only site I know that has info on it from time to time is: http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=39&threadid=89399&STARTPAGE=5#1139363 and also that main part of that site also has info.
Actually if you do look at the main pagehttp://www.simtropolis.com/ you'll see there is a magazine which is suppose to have exclusive content about the game in July...
I liked really like Simcity 4. Hearing they will simplify the game makes me worried. I thought the added financial features and later the traffic features added so much depth to the game. Have commute times a factor for an areas success really made the game for me. I was really satisfying making a city that worked knowing every aspect of it was done by you. But I've been playing since SimCity 2000 so the learning curve was a bit less. I think they should give players an option. Have an easy setting where the game automatically does your finances and have a hard setting where you had to do everything yourself. -notdie-
QFT. I don't care if the game was like a financial/traffic simulator. The statistician in me went giddy every time I played that game and I thought the complexity of it was what made the game.
Sim city 4 was overly complicated I think. Maybe if they improved the interface it wouldn't be so bad.
I wouldn't expect Sim City 5 untill at least 2009 though, as Will Wright is working on Spore still, which doesn't come out till March 2008Â (I think). It would be nice though.Â
