Decided the other day that I wanted to play the sims again, so went to use the game and it wouldn't work on my computer because of an alleged update problem. Decided to try reinstalling the game so when I put the base game disc in to reinstall that it started getting stuck on file 3 and wouldn't install past that. I've since got a new computer and it's still getting stuck in the same place - using a macbook in both cases. Can't be damage to the disc as it's just been sitting in the case since it was last used so I'd find it strange if the disc had gotten damaged. Anyone have any idea how I might get around this if it's not damage to the disc? No problems with system requirements, disc space etc just won't install past a certain point.

Well this isn't a "solution" but it is a work around for you to get sims 3 back on your machine and to be honest I don't know if you can do this on a MAC but it is worth checking out,

If you got to the EA store :-

https://activate.ea.com/applyentitlement.do

You can activate your game and download it digiitally from the EA store. If you don't trust the above link then here is the link to the EA store :-

http://eastore.ea.com/

Once there click on the "Activate a Game" link in the top right hand corner.
