Sims 3-Multiple Sims

This is the first time I have played a sims game.

At the beginning I created 4 sims, a family. Now I only want to actively play as one character.

Is it possible to automate the 3 other sims, so that you only have to look after one?

Well in Sims 3, there's an improvement in the way your Sims react. They basically can look after themselves better now, so you don't have to worry much about them while controlling one specific sim.

And if you still feel unsatisfied, do what the guy above me said. >: )

But better yet, why not just leave that family alone, and create a new sim - a single sim. Then move that sim into his or her own lot. I have about 20 sims in my present game, and they're spread out over ten lots. I jump back and forth between the 'families' a lot. (They're not families - they're a massive group of Playboy Playmates. And presently they're all... 'getting to know one another'... if you catch my meaning.)

It's great when the game gets filled up with sims of your own creation. You walk into town and there are all the sims that you created, going about their lives. You really should start filling the world up with your own sims - this is where the fun is.

Yesterday I had all four sims on red, and I didn't know where too start when controlling them. If i move out, will they automatically do things more easily?

Seems an awful lot too the game, which is quite confusing atoo a noob like me :D

But wait a minute.

You didn't turn off 'free will' did you? If free will is enabled (it defaults to 'on') then you don't actually have to do anything. Your sims, for the most part, will look after themselves.

Personally I find that controlling two sims is the perfect number. Anything more than that becomes a chore, and you stop noticing what your sims are up to, which is the most amazing part of the game.

EDIT: But if you're new to the series, you should probably only be controlling one sim.

I think i'll just start a new game, and then just have one sim, and work up from there.

Can you add sims into the game at a later point?

In the Sims 2 you could move new sims (fresh from the creator) into occupied lots assuming that the # of sims did not exceed 8.
