Hey all, I was wondering what are good simulation games out there? Im not really talking about the Sims.. more games kind of like Sim City. Where you Build you own city, control the economy, inports exports, Everything.. I was looking at Dawn Of Discovery is that game any good? or are there better games out there? I was also looking at the new Settlers game but that seems like its more of a "match" type where you just set up a city until you beat your enemy.. I want one where you are coninually upgrading your city. Thanks!

Dawn of Discovery and Tropico 3 are both good games and the type you are looking for.

Sim City is more like a strategy game even though it simulates a city. There's the Sim City Box which has Sim City 4 plus a bunch more.

Not exactly a sim but Galactic Civilizations II you can build up individual planets, conduct research, do treaties, design and build any kind of ship you can imagine, and declare war. I love SimCity but ive always thought how cool it would be to build an army. I think in Tropico you can kinda do that but its not the same and GC2 is turn based so you can take as much time as you want.

They got rid of the DRM with latest patch for the retail version of the game :)

Arma 2 is a milsim game.

-Origin-

id like to call that wrong... sort of

the only "true" milsim games are AA and operation flashpoint 2: dragon rising. that being said operation flashpoint isnt that good if you approach it like every other fps.. its more real and paced game unlike say arma II which is just a bf2 clone with misleading labels..

arma itself isnt bad however i would consider it under this label..

that is all

so yeah arma 2 isnt a milsim.. its just like evry other modern wartime shooter we have had and will have.. simply done "better" than alot other ones.

operation flashpoint dragon rising and AA are less realistic than arma 2, trying to play arma 2 like any other game will get you killed fast, have you even played the game?. Arma 2 is much more of a milsim then the 2 you mentioned, it is even used by the military in the form of VBS2.

Did you just say operation flashpoint 2: DR is a military sim and ArmA 2 isn't? Ohhhhhhh boy.

OF2: DR is a console shooter, ArmA 2 is about as close as you can get to a military sim without having to upgrade to the industry grade version.
