I played through ME1 a couple of times when it was first released on the 360.

I want to get ME2 for PC but don't really wan't to play through ME1 again.

If I just playthrough ME2 is it still as enjoyable? Can I just choose the choices I wan't at the beginning to match what happened on my 360 playthrough?

Thank you.

I'm actually curious about this. I recently started a new ME2 game and it seems to randomly select some choices for you (maybe dependent on whether you choose "ruthless", "hero" or whatever). I'm not sure it if is possible to make individual choices.

You could always find and download a save file on the internet though.

As far as I know starting a fresh character in Mass Effect2 has most of the choice made by the developers.

*SPOILERS FOR ME1*

It picks things for you, like Wrex will always have died, the counsil will always have died in the space battle, and the counsil will be all human. In order to get a story how you like it, you'll need to import an ME1 PC save file. If you feel a bit lazy, check out http://www.masseffectsaves.com/ and see if they have any you can download that look like your ideal playthrough

About continuing playing as the same character you've created on your 360 is kind of a problem, but yes the game would be enjoyable at the same way without playing throught the 1st game

Other than the level bump, what are the advantages of importing a save? As far as I can remember, it didn't have that much of an effect on ME2, other than a bit of different dialogue.

Personally I would pick up ME1 and play it on the PC it is dirt cheap now! It looks better than the 360 version and also you can customise your ending by letting who you want to die. But like someone pointed out above, there is always masseffectsaves.com

Why not download a save game ? The default choices in Mass Effect 2 are so crap it isn't even funny. It is like Bioware asked themselves "how can we create the crappiest most uninteresting universe possible". You get a vastly superior playthrough if you tailor the game to your choices. There are two ways you can do this.

Firstly you can get a save game from here :-

You can download a save game with the choices you like and you will still be given an opportunity to change the appearance of your character. Alternatively you could use the save game editor which can be found here :-

The save game editor is a bit rough and ready though so it might not be ideal.

Finally it is rumoured that the PC/360 will get this "Mass Effect Interactive Comic" that is being made available to PS3 users. The comic is initially exclusive to the PS3 but a lil bit later it will be made available to all platforms.

I would recommend you to not. It gets you accustomed to the events and characters before Mass Effect 2. A lot of those characters make a return in the sequel, and certain events are referenced. Mass Effect 2 improves in a lot of areas, though, so some things in the first one might not seem as 'fresh'.

If you really don't wanna play the first one, maybe you should import one of the saved games avaialbe to everyone on the web. It decides if your Shepard was good/bad/neutral in ME 1, as well as some other important decisions such as romance options.

BioWare should really add some form of, uh, customization options in their sequels that are affected by decisions made in previous games, instead of just relying on saved games. It would be easier and I feel that the people who do not play previous games are missing out on certain parts of the game. Plus you have to play the first game again if you want to import OTHER changes.

I hear that's changing to SOME extent in Dragon Age 2, though.

Actually that's pretty good. Must be a saved game there that matches my character pretty close. :D

I'll just check through them.

(Thanks to other users that mentioned that site too.)

Vastly superior? :( those were the choices I made in ME1 myself and like them =/ ( except for Wrex. )
