People keep talking about mods will make it better. Did any mods overhaul oblivion's garbage non-reactive combat and turn it into something somewhat tolerable ? I don't think so.
At least if your gonna make a s***ty action game, would it be too much to ask for some decent action ? :x
Actually OOO, Deadly Reflex, Midas Magic were among many, so yes, I think so.People keep talking about mods will make it better. Did any mods overhaul oblivion's garbage non-reactive combat and turn it into something somewhat tolerable ? I don't think so.

I actually think the gameplay looks better than any previous Elder Scrolls game and I say this as a hardcore Morrowind fanboy.
Oh and the graphics look very nice.
Actually OOO, Deadly Reflex, Midas Magic were among many, so yes, I think so. I said OVERHAUL the combat completly and give actual hit reaction ? Not just make slight changes to an already s*** system.[QUOTE="bussinrounds"]

I'm still playing unmodded Oblivion currently, and despite the low res textures, is a BEAUTIFUL game.

I'm echoing this point of view, I don't get why everyone says it is an ugly game. It was probably one of the most beautiful game of its time (which of course lost out to Crysis but what hasn't.)
Personally I can write an essay on the flaws of Oblivion but ugliness would not be on it.

Agree as well, with Qarls texture pack and some environmental mods it even more awesome. But playing oblivion unmodded on PC is a crime. Do yourself a favour and make from that soso game an awesome game of epicness.Actually OOO, Deadly Reflex, Midas Magic were among many, so yes, I think so. Yes, that's what Deadly Reflex does. It chucks the default combat system for a more in-depth, technical one.
Since when does size = quality? As far as I'm concerned, the smaller the size, the more games I can install.
Didn't he also say that the game will look similar tot he console versions? So which one is it? :PJusta reminder, Todd Howard confiremd PC version is getting higher res textures

...because texture compression is all that matters I suppose. Please concern yourself with the steaming pile of crap between your ears before pointing out piles elsewhere.

The fact we have to rely on mods for this sort of thing is sad enough.Does anything need to? The elder scrolls games have all been amazing for their time (except Arena). What is Skyrim adding that's new? What sets it apart from Morrowind or Oblivion aside from the visuals? This isn't sarcasm, I'd like to know.

6GB ... that's freaking Oblivion with mods ... though by the looks of the system requierments Bethesda released I don't know what to believe anymore ...
P.S. Check out Start/Select, I guarantee you will laugh in the first 30 seconds and then at the end of the show when you see the requierments you'll yell "GTFO !"

Mmm if i had to choose the things that they added that interest me most it would be... The promise of more level designers for dungeons, to get back to more unique locations compared to morrowind. The perk system is also very interesting, since it basically replaces the perk you received every 25 skill ups with a lot more user freedom and choice, which seems way more fun and less tedious. At the same time the game gives you an entire new world to explore...which alone is worth it for me :P. The addition of several more armor sets is also a huuuuge plus, because so much joy in the games comes from getting new loot. What is Skyrim adding that's new? heh.. they looked fine, not flawless, specially from that xbox footage, close looks at vegetation and texts.. there were some flickering shadows but...

Hah, that was a great one! I will reserve my words for the final game. I'm sure it's going to look just fine but I really expected the size to be about double what it is. Maybe this 6gig size is for the PS3/360 version?
Remember Far Cry 2? It was like 3 gigs and looked amazing.
Then, remember RAGE? 20 gigs, and it had horrible textures.
Imma wait for the release.

Fallout 3 is 5,6 gb and oblivion is 4,4gb. Both without mods or dlcs. New vegas is on my other pc and the requierments says 10gb, and i remember that it occupied less than that. Maybe as u said those hdd stimations are for console, but i doubt it as they're mentioned along pc specs.. still game can't be more than 12gb.
PS: gta IV and ep.from liberty city, each one is 15gb, using 30gb of my hard drive, and textures are awsome, aren't they?

Yup, I haven't played oblivion for a while now but DR mod among others made the combat really good and enjoyable. It's just sad that people sphew ignorance before even doing a simple google search.
It's hilarious that it seems that people expect better combat from a RPG then games that are actually built around combat, like Devil May cry and Bajonetta.
Well consoles are the lead platform. Everything that was translated to the PC version had consoles in mind.

Mmmhmm. Deadly reflex for the win.
Leaping out of stealth in slo-mo for a critical hit to the neck is awesome (also note the texture pack :D)

Why wouldn't we be surprised ? Games lately are over 10GB easy and just thinking that Skyrim, not some random other random game but Skyrim is 6 freaking GB ... how the hell did they put everything in that ... Only time will tell ... for now:roll:

Maybe it's because insulting a game isn't against the TOS. Your "educated" insulting comments are fun, but when you're writing about TES, something snaps.Oooh, I was moderated with point loss again. I fail to see why someone can make a topic clearly insulting an upcoming game others have invested much of their selves in; yet one can't respond word for word exactly in kind.

You obviously never tried any of the mods. Don't know why you people jump in as if you have knowledge about them. If you never tried using a combat mod and I seriously doubt if you even tried one mod just don't say anything. It also saves you from looking like a big douche.
