I'd like the idea of a new game without a collectors editon, they use to mean somthing but now every game *other then nintendo games* has a collectors edtion and a lot of them end up in the bargin bin.
Collector's editions are just an overpriced gimmick anyway. They used to be cool back when they were rare (and thus actually collector's items) such as the OoT golden cartridges and the Resident Evil Anniversary Collection (only 5000 made), or when they at least included interesting stuff (again, the REAC came with a ton of unique collectibles, including two DVDs that are actually important to the plot of the series yet can't be found anywhere else). Nowadays though EVERY game has a "collector's edition" that is usually anything but that (Viva Pinata was a particularly egregious example in that it's collector's edition was so over-produced that the REGULAR edition of the game actually ended up being the rarest version by far). Even worse, most of them offer nothing more than an alternate cover, a "making of" DVD, a short, cheap artbook that looks more like an instruction manual, MAYBE a soundtrack that you'll never listen to (because game music is extremely repetitive and meant to be nothing more than ambient music), and if you're lucky a cheap trinket, all wrapped up in a cheap cardboard box. All of which can be your's for only more than twice the price of the base game. So yeah, I don't particularly care about a collector's edition and would actually like it if Bethesda DIDN'T offer one. But that won't happen since they've been offering collector's editions of all their games since Oblivion.
