I have a 35hr in Breton mage. I started a new game, and a few saves from my new game overrided and deleted the saves from my old game! :evil:What do I do? Is there ANY way to get them back, or to fast forward to the beginning of Act III (which is where I was)?

Does anyone have ANY suggestions?

Try a file recovery program that restores deleted files. I would be surprised if you haven't bought one, they are a handy utility to have.

How did you manage to do that? My lvl 27 Nord Warrior has at least a dozen saves. Hmm.

How did you manage to overwrite your saves? Had you only ever used autosaves?

If it overrode them because you were only using quicksave or autosave before, no there's likely no way to recover them.

Yeah the only thing I could think of is if you were only using autosaves and quicksaves. If you used real saves, than the only way they would get overwritten is if you selected them, and clicked the confirm button when it says "are you sure you want to overwrite this save?"

Don't just use quicksave and autosave.

And what does "act 3" mean? Skyrim doesn't have acts.

Been there done that! I suppose you should rename this tread "I deleted my saves" :)

This. Sorry mate. You're screwed. :(

Nope, I found a way to skip to the end of the quest "Alduin's Bane" with console commands. And I can give myself back all the things I can remember. :D It won't be perfect, bu it's close enough! And I will do more than quicksaves. I figured it wouldn't matter. Seems like a save should be a save.

I believe you only ever have one autosave so if you make a new character and it autosaves, it'll replace the other character's autosave. I'm not sure if quicksave works the same way or not. If it does, that might be why you lost them.

What I usually do is use quicksaves and autosaves while playing, but right before I exit, I do a manual save. Just a tip. :)

I know the feeling brother :(. Just use that new character and make it your new main - I don't think there is any way implemented into the game to retrieve the autosave/quick save things. Good luck, stay strong. Remember, Skyrim is for the nords.

Skyrim stores one autosave and up to two quicksaves, the rest you need to manually save. This is pretty much standard (usually you don't even get 2 quicksaves), I would think you'd know that by now.

Not really, if it's your first Elder Scrolls game you played. I assumed that there are seperate save files for each character - like how Dragon Age handled save files.

Oblivion was handled in almost the exact same fashion, one save folder with all saves stored there, if you overwrite any old save it's replaced by the new characters save. All you really need to do is make a new folder in the save folder and drop all your saves you want to backup in that folder, not difficult but I guess I could understand how this could happen if you aren't paying much attention. If he had actually saved his file instead of quicksaving he would have been getting a warning that the file is about to be overwritten, that's just his laziness really.

Exactly. If Skyrim is the first ELDER SCROLLS game you played, you would not know this. Elder Scrolls refers to: Morrowind, Oblivion and hey, even Skyrim! (And all the games prior to Morrowind.)

I tended to be more of a Bioware guy, so I did not know this. Thanks for the tip. Any suggestions on what race to start over with? I really liked destruction spells, but I don't really want to do that again. Maybe I should use two handed melee and conjuring? Or a sneaky archer who uses alteration?

I liked my dual swords Argonian. I ended up getting lycanthropy though, so most of my racial benefits were unneeded. It's also pretty unlikely that you'll find anything much underwater. Dual weapons is fierce when you get high enough level to get the extended power attack, the shout that lets you attack faster, and all the one-handed weapon bonuses.

Not sure what you can do ):

Next time just save a new game every time you save. It might take up a bit of space but youll have tons of options for saves if you want to go back.

I think i have around 400 save files for my main game :P
