Ive been playing 100% fine since forever. My computer can more than handle its graphics settings. All of sudden for no reason at all its lags so much that its unplayable. I have not done a single thing. My drivers are updated and I tried reinstalling it. I'm using steam btw.

How about you actually list your specs and give more detail to the problem.

Obviously is has nothing to do with specs, he said it played fine before.

My first guess would be a virus, any protection? Is your PC in general acting up or just Skyrim? Were you using mods? I also heard of a bug with the savefile size causing issues, not sure of the fix, if any.

Do you use mods? If so mods are the most likely issue here, uncheck them one at a time and test until you find the source of your problem. Or you can uninstall them all and reinstall the ones you really care for. Or try messing around with the load order. Read description and comments for every mod you install.

Definitely this, and check for malware.

These two things. My two cents: Also do a chkdsk /R in case your HDD is starting to fail.

Sounds to me like Skyrim players need a derivative of OBMM or Wrye Bash.

Well, there is the popular NMM - Nexus mod manager, and with the new steam update load order in Workshop can be re-arranged. Probably wise, if not Steam technical support would probably turn into a hot line for people unable to understand the difference between user-generated content and official plug-ins hehe :p

Thanks for your help guys. Ill try your suggestions and see how they work out. Its not a virus because its only skyrim thats being laggy. Yes I have a few mods on there so thats probably the issue.

Lol yup. Alienware has come a LONG way from their prices in the 90's... they were more ridiculous than it is now... $5k for a damn gaming PC, ati days lol. 8800gt lol. Good times.. not. Still expensive. Not real customization.. can't have it the way you want it and it's so rewarding building your own rig.

Has Alienware really gone down that far? (after Dell bought it). I remember Alienware, although expensive, was one of the best quality brands out there.

Why would he need to? Do you not comprehend the pattern of events here? Ran fine before, runs like crap now.....specs are irrelevant in this case. Unless some gremlins came in overnight and replaced components specs are a non-issue here. Please.....never go into any career requiring troubleshooting

my sig was 1500usd at the time...and that was a couple of years ago...i had a hard time finding other laptops in the same price range with the same power...that being said...i know i could have gotten so much more if i built a desktop...but i needed the portability

Have you tried loading to previous save of Skyrim before it started lagging? My own experience with Skyrim is it would crash of everything I would do, entering caves, quick saving, looting a corpse all crash, but once I load up a save before it had its issues, it would work fine.

Did you download the high texture pack without considering the new specs for the game after installing it? Then that's your problem.

are you playing an archer spec and did you upgrade the 2/2 slow motion thing in the archery tree? It's actually a bug, it happened to me too. I remember i manage to fix it, but i don't remember how. Google it and look around. There should be something about it somewhere.

It's because it shouldn't have won game of the year. It only won because all their other Elder Scroll installments won game of the year. Game seemed a little rushed to me and the VA is awefull for a game in the 21st century :/ Same VAs over and over.
