I came up with this idea for Oblivion (Who knows, this may have exsisted)

So many people complain about TES games being single player only, and there are a load of reasons which are understandable why.. But the arena in Oblivion would have been an epic means of PVP, they could easily set it up so you're paired with someone of a similar skill level and fight them, or even team battles or something, I think this'd be amazing!!!

"...they could easily set it up..."

Multiplyer is one of the most difficult things to develop and it requires alot of resources from the company. It's better that they focus on the single player aspect which is huge work anyway.

Though the concept itself is great, maybe we could have a mod or a DLC which allows for limited PvP or co-op interactions in the future. I had a similar idea for a jousting arena btw...

I don't know about PvP, but I do remember there was a co-op mod for Oblivion in the works by some fans. I don't think it got very far though. A lot of bugs and connection issues. Multiplayer stuff probably isn't possible with the mod tools. It probably requires something modifying the executable to add multiplayer code, or an external program that modifies the game memory in real time for multiplayer.

They tried a co-op in both Oblivion and Morrowind and it sort of worked but they pretty much had to make the netcode and everything themselves since nothing was really created by the devs.

Don't think would work well fora game like this and like Skyrim to be solo. So many multiplayer games its nice to have a nice quiet one. You'll get all the pvp you can handle when Guild wars 2 comes out.

Always wished a game like MW/Oblivion/Skyrim would be an MMO. Have a certain amount of people on a server/world running around and doing their own thing, running the dungeons(instanced) with friends on the hardest mode. I'd imagine that it would make it seem so much more immersive and alive. That's just me though.

I expect this will happen someday considering how popular and lucrative MMOs can be.

The arena in Oblivion was one of my favorite parts of the game...so yeah...a MP version of that would be great.

It's not like you HAVE to play it, especially this type of multiplayer

I know, but it would take away from the glorious work that is dont on the singleplayer world and story and gameplay. If they are ever gonna do an elder scrolls with multiplayer, it would probably be an MMO....I cant see an open RPG with a mod base as large as the one we have today possibly functioning with online play

I can imagine Skyrim now, Dragonborn have not been seen for decades and all of a sudden 1000-2000 find themselves in Skyrim via arrests on the border ... Let's be realistic here and face it, TES franchise has always been and will be a game offering hours and hours of SP expirience and nothing else ... simply becouse MP will not fit the whole story, plot or whatever no matter how you look at it. Besides thinking of a way to add a PVP to a TES is kinda hard to imgaine, even the Co-op doesn't fit the picture in my eyes:?

Of course I wasn't talking of Skyrim specifically. Though, why people are so afraid of change or looking at a different perspective is beyond me. It's not like the story was all established in past games before this one. If it 'was' to be a multiplayer game, then the story and such could have easily been made to fit and no one would have thought anything of it. They said there were dragonborn in the past, never said there was only one at a time. A certain number of players in a world/server would mean a certain number of Dragonborn. Regardless, don't kid yourself. Because mmos these days aren't crazy on story, doesn't mean it can't be done. I can easily picture around a hundred players in a world. Running past one or two while exploring, cities, inns ,etc. with the caves, forts, dungeons all intanced. Still single player-like, just more alive. It's hardly far-fetched. Of course though, no mod base.
