So today's the last day of the Steam sale, and I see both Skyrim and Shogun 2 for sale. However, Anno 2070 has peaked my interest, and I kind of want to try it out. Which one would everyone recommend? Some notes to identify my situation:

- I already have Skyrim for the PS3 (although my brother has been playing it non-stop)
- I'm into base-building
- Just looking for something that strays away from shooters, and their gameplay mechanics. I just want something with a more tactical/thought-out gameplay process compared to the fast-paced, mind-numbing shooter mechanics.

Shogun is for you. I played the demo a while back and fell in love with the game. Plan on picking it up today.

While I heard Skyrim gets some serious issues later on, if you can deal with it then Skyrim is a miss for this sale. Though creatation kit is coming out this month.

Right now, I recommend Shogun 2 since it'll be the best value as of now. Anno 2070 might goes on sale in the future if Ubisoft don't pull it off Steam, plus it's got a horrible Tage 3 activation limit (which might be removed in the future).

Ubisoft put their infamous DRM on Anno 2070? Well then, guess that makes my decision easier :P Shogun 2 it is.

Thanks for the help :D

Haven't played Anno 2070, so I'll just say that Shogun 2 is a much better game than Skyrim.

It's apples to oranges but I have to agree. I enjoyed Skyrim a lot but Shogun 2 holds that fun factor longer. For me anyways.

If you already own Skyrim on console I would suggest getting one of the pc exclsuives that are awesome. Anno 2070 is fantastic and Shogun2 is good also, try one of those! Anno2070 if you want more building/trading and shogun2 if you want more combat.

If you do it right, you can get Shogun 2 w/ DLC on Gamersgates for a cheaper price and you can activate on Steam. You can save like a whole $0.72!! :P

I hear the PS3 version has that game-breaking bug. Well, i'm sure many of you already read about that. Get the PC version. Incredible game and the mods are wonderful, although I only use an HD texture mod.

A penny saved, is a penny earned. In this case, 14 nickels, 7 dimes, or 72 pennies. You could almost buy a McDouble.

Anno hands down and people need to get informed about the DRM, those 3 activations reset every month, there's nothing horrible about that.

Do you have a source for that? The faq on the official forum says otherwise.

An Ubi rep said on the Anno forums that it's like that, won't really bother looking for it, they clean their forums regularly and you'll notice Anno 2070 doesn't have an official FAQ, read it carefully, that's a copy paste from Anno 1404, which also has its activations reset every 30 days.

You will have to contact Ubisoft to get an activation if you somehow run out of them within a month or wait till they reset on their own.

It's really hard to compare those three games.

Perhaps you can sorta compare Shogun 2 against Anno 2070, but Skyrim is a completely different style of game.

If you're looking at both Shogun 2 and Anno 2070 I'm going to assume you're a little more interested in strategy games than RPG's, and for sheer number of hours of entertainment then I would guess that Shogun 2 is probably going to be better value for money.

I've put 100 hours into Skyrim, and about 15 into Shogun (picked it up 2 days ago), and I much prefer Shogun.

Plus Gamersgate gives you blue coins which can be used to purchase other things in the future! :o

I did that :P

The Blood Pack DLC was also half price on there - a great saving of 25p! :D

I really, really suggest getting Skyrim. It's very good and will eat up a lot of your time.
