I've been putting together a list of mods to make Skyrim more of a DayZ style survival horror game.

Here's a video with entailing my progress, and the current list of mods i'm using in case anyone wants to try them out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXavU7jVxQ4

MOD LIST: (Most can be found by searching the title through Nexus, any Steam mods will be labeled as such)

- Zombie Apocalypse (I'm thinking of using 28 Days and a Bit 5 - Zombie Mutation mod instead)

- First Aid

- Arrows and Bolts Tweaks

- Frostfall - Hypothermia Camping Survival

- Handyman

- Nord Needs - A simple unobtrusive and customizable eat-drink-sleep mod

- Skyrim Monster Mod

- SP - Skyrim Population

- Wearable Lanterns

- UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul

- Bellyaches Animal and Creature Pack

- Dark Nights and Dungeons ***NOTE: I don't have it enabled because of shadow issues with my game***

- Locational Damage ***Note: I ran in to an issue where my character received damage constantly. If you run in to the same issue, just uninstall the mod.***

Have to say thats an interesting concept, thought it doesn't really fit the Skyrim vibe of mass zombies but it would be interesting for amedieval game about zombies/survival to show up.

I think the reason it fits is because there are the presence of undead in the series. It just so happens a ton of them came to life, whether that be from a Daedric god, or so forth.

Also, stabbing zombies. :D

Does anyone have quite a bit of programming knowledge cause I think that this would be an awesome total conversion mod. DayZ: Skyrim Edition.

Oh yes and a zombie apocalypse fits the atmosphere of "realistic" military simulator. Anyways, I'm interested in your mod. :) Sounds good.

I think that the medieval setting would be an awesome backround for a zombie apocalypse mainly because it hasn't been done before. I'd love having to raid Solitude and encountering an angry pack of zombies with some buddies. Or traversing the freezing regions of the Nord homeland keeping me and my team warm using fire spells.

The thing is DayZ is about avoiding zombies and more about the other people. All these clones focus too much on the zombies and have a "kill them all" vibe about them

DayZ is all about the confrontations with other survivors(players), the zombies are just part of the background.

Uh...it does, does it not? Zombies in a real life setting are a little more common than zombies in a fantasy world...

Bad form bro.

I know that the biggest fear would still be other players, but I was just thinking that a zombocalypse would be fresher if done in a different way and location. You'd still get the bandits, (maybe even wearing bandit armour) and there'd still be awesome teamwork. The only difference is the setting.

Also, I'm putting it out there right now. Anyone wanna work on a total conversion mod for Skyrim.

That means takng away all the npcs and questlines, adding survival skills and needs, making Skyrim feel more dead (such as adding corpses and empty camps) and of course a lot of other stuff.

The hardest part would probably be making it an MMO but yeah, we probably won't need to make it an MMO if all goes to hell.
