Sli gtx 980 or Titan X?

Which would be best to get? I will mainly be gaming at 1080p or 1440p. I won't be gaming at 4K until I can get around 120hz at that resolution. I prefer the higher frame rate over resolution. I already own one gtx 980, but not getting the high frame rate I like. I have a 1080p 144hz monitor and might be getting a 1440p 144hz monitor in the future and want to be able to get the most fps out of it. So which should I get another 980, Titan x, or just wait till next year's nvidia cards come out?

GTX 980 Sli, no brainer. Titan X is *not* a card for regular consumers. These are basically "fun" cards, for people who have a lot of money. Within a year, there will be a better card than the Titan X for a much better price point. I'm not even sure why you have to ask. Researching this question is as simple as finding benchmarks....

...then just look at the price of a GTX 980 vs a Titan X. It's not even worth making a thread about.

.............. SLI 980s will outperform a titan and will be cheaper since you already own one.. The downsides.. They will draw way more energy and SLI isn't the best in every game (some games it is downright worthless), also your stuck at 4gb memory (instead of 12 on titan) until DX12... What games are you not getting good fps at 1080p with a 980 to begin with?

Wait for AMD new 3XX series, get one of those =)

@sSubZerOo: Yea that's why I was asking. I know some games don't support sli so didn't know if the Titan x would be the better option or not. Right now the newest game I have is Hardline. Getting around 80-100fps, would like to be able to get around 120-144hz on these new titles at 1080p. Playing older games like battlefield 3, black Ops 2, and getting a lot higher fps to me just makes the game feel like it's running a lot smoother.

It's pretty much irrelevant if a few games don't support SLI, what's important is that the ones that need it do so.

@KHAndAnime: Are there a lot of new games that don't support sli? Figured most games would since sli and crossfire has been around for awhile.

When exactly is the AMD 3xx series coming?

I'm going to buy a 970 but it's good to know when the prices are coming down. :p

Sadly for you, it got nothing to do with AMD 3XX series, the prices of 9XX brand new series won't drop until the next series to come.

If you want to save more money, wait for 3XX series to come and buy yourself R9 290.

since u already have a 980 go sli with it. spending 1k+ on a titan is a bad idea if your already using a good card like the 980

i've never used sli because by the time i get around to getting a second card, a better card comes out that makes sli worthless
