ok, don't have a ps3, so I can't get MGS4 (this is relevent to PC games, promise). Now that I've seen it got a 10, I'm thinkin about playing the first ones. Should I get the first 2 on PC? I think I might have a PS2 that works here, so should I get the essentials collection for that instead? Or is it worth playing them at all? Is any other console even gonna get MGS4?

umm well I highly doubt that MGS4 will release on any other consol simply because that game is a huge factor of why ps3 owners own the ps3...

I disagree. The console industry is not like it used to be. Money talks. Never say never.

Since MGS3 didn't come to PC, neither will MGS4

Besides, PC guys might not understand MGS4 entirely since they didn't play MGS3

IMO Metal Gear Solid 1 is the best game ever made and has the best story ever

MGS3 has the best ending ever, biggest plot twist ever (yes, even bigger than KOTOR's) and is the best PS2 game ever

Though, the PC versions of MGS1 and MGS2 are buggy

On my older graphic card MGS1 worked good, but now it crashes every time I die. I recomend you use an emulator for MGS1 (that's what I do). I've finished that game over 30 times and never got tired of it (always watched every cutscene)

With MGS2 if you have an ATI card use the patch, if you have an Nvidia card PM me

I'll probably never play Portable Ops and Guns of the patriots so I'll just watch the entire story here:

That sounds ridiculous to me. It assumes no pc gamer has ever played a previous MGS game on the console or has no interest in playing MGS4; bad assumption. And give ourselves a bit more credit, we're not as stupid as you make it sound. And it's also like saying the console folk wouldn't have understood HL2 when the Orange Box was released on them. MGS4 has a whole new game mechanic that might be more suitable on the PC than previous MGS games were.

You don't understand. MGS is not about the gameplay it's about the story. MGS has a VERY complex story

HL barely had a story so everyone understood HL2

MGS3 Subsistance had the same gameplay and didn't get ported. Though, I agree that the gameplay would be twice better on PC (like GTA on PC)

Lol, you talk like I haven't played the previous MGS games, which you are wrong. And no you don't understand. again, you assume people who play pc games today have never played MGS games before in the past. I'm amazed by how many people like yourself think that there are not many gamers who play, or have played, both pc and console games.

Well I'm certain that 75% of PC gamers haven't played them

If you don't already have a PS2, get one, they are $130. Then get the Metal Gear Solid collection that comes with MGS, MGS2S and MGS3S for $30. Dont' waste your time with the PC versions.

And even if that number was hypothetically accurate, if 25% of all pc gamers did have an interest in playing MGS4 on the PC, I'd say that would be enough profitable motivation for Konami to bring it to the PC.

They didn't bring MGS3 to PC 'cos they though it wouldn't be profitable, so there's little chances of MGS4 coming to PC

It's true that the game looks green if you don't use the ATI patch, but I've played through and completed MGS2 on the PC and my experience was brilliant and I never experienced any bugs.

if you have a ps2, its a MUST you own all played through all metal gear solid games.

Even if you don't have a ps2, its a MUST you buy one and play through all of them. I can't wait till I can save up some money and get a ps3 and play it, just at the moment I don't see much other reason besides metal gear that I should get a ps3 as it doesn't differintiate from the xbox 360 that much at the moment. Once god of war 3 is out then it will be a must buy.

Which is ironic considering MSG3 was the least profitable MGS game to date.

You don't need to play MS3 to understand the story for 1,2,4. The third game presents the story for Big Boss instead of Solid Snake... Anyhow, I need to get the essential collection for my Ps2 then get a Ps3 for the 4th. I love the series though. Great cinematics that really draw you into the story. Truly one of the few games that I actually felt something while playing.

Though there might not be any data regarding the percentage, I agree with Darth Kane. There are simply not that many PC gamers who'd be interested in MGS4. Some of them decided to skip the poorly done MGS2 port, and the PC community never get to play MGS3.

Still, it'd be glorious to see MGS4 on the PC platform. I've always played the games at the time of launch, with the exception of this one. (I can't afford a PS3....)

Not quite. One of the characters in MGS3, EVA returns in MGS4, and the third game has a lot of her backstory.

And the third game reveals a lot of details that are quite essential such as the beginning of the patriots and Ocelot's origin.
