It's nice that they are giving you the choice.

Yes.

Actually just for the hell of it, I plugged in my XB360 controller while playing Crysis Warhead, and it works. Lol.

Didn't expect that.

I don't know if a significant majority does-there are plenty of games made only to work around KB+M, given that it's the primary PC interface, and many of them are more fitting that way. However, there are also tons of games out there with DirectInput and XInput (Xbox 360 pad) support. For those that don't, there are countless utilities to remap a gamepad to KB+M input, but if it's a game that supports XInput only and you're using a DirectInput-only pad, you're better off using an XInput emulator so you can still have analog control and possibly rumble feedback.

There is a emulation software that can make your computer think that the gamepad is a KB by assigning the keys to your gamepad. (ex - "Enter" = "X" or any other button you choose.) Haven't tried it, but i think its called xpad?

It depends on the developer. Most do, but some don't support it when they should for example BFBC2 (for vehicles)or Mass effect 2. Its annoying when they don't give you the option when the game warrants it. Sometimes they just want to make a cheap port and don't want to spend resources on gamepad support.

You can use 3rd party software but its not the same as native support.

They really need to do it more often as more video cards are coming with HDMI so people can play on their TV's (and therefore would be more comfortable with a gamepad).

Taking your title as a literal question.. no. a majority of PC games do not support gamepads/controllers (the question in the title gives no time frame thus I am taking in account all PC games). As more games become multi platform releases there is more and more support for them, but 'purists' like myself stick to the Keyboard/Mouse (or just keyboard) setup.

You can use Xpadder to get 99% of games to use a gamepad. But natively no I'd say the majority do not support a gamepad. Even many 360 multiplatform games do not support the 360 controller, which is silly if you ask me. Even some games don't support gamepads too well, the 360 gamepad is your best option though.

I do, but I don't think it should be required to play a PC game. Unless we are talking about a fighting game then sure.

Sure, some genres are bad for them but it is nice to have a choice for something like a platformer or space combat sim.

Yes they do. In fact, many ports from consoles tend to force you to use gamepads, since the devs are too lazy to make proper KB/M support, much less trying to improve the visuals.

Whiteblade999
Hardcore space combat sims work better with a keyboard and a joystick (Freelancer, X-Wing etc.) To each his own, personally I don't use those gamepads, I'm married to my KB/M setup with the occasional use of a joystick for some simulators.
