i treid to play Stalker: CS with the first patch and got caught fairly early on by a crashing problem - i 've now got the second patch, and am prepared to start the game again, but has anyone else who had the same problem now played with patch 2 and been OK? i really don't want to play this game a third time!
The second patch (v1.5.04) cleared up the nasty bugs for me. The only bugs I've come across in a lot of hours of play are a couple of random crashes. No more save game corruption, no quest bugs, no bugs at all so far (I haven't finished it yet).
completed the game 3 times now, crashed 2 times(out of about 60-80 hours), and had a sidequest freck up, thats about it for me and the bugs Ive incountered.
No crashes, but I'm getting the ATI error with barbed wire fences and cammo netting not appearing. The ammo counter is also slightly screwed up for me. If I switch between ammo types for a weapon and then reload, it keeps the old ammo type listed on the HUD until I reload a second time.
sorry was away for a bit, but thanks for the replies - would be interested in views on Mike B's question re quests - also i've seen elsewhere on this board there's a third patch coming - anyone got any info on that?
There was this one quest where I wasn't given the dialogue option to give an upgrader a flash drive after I accepted their quest to do so. I reloaded the game and was able to give him the flash drive.
There was another broken quest where I was supposed to kill bandits in a certain area but when I killed a few and went into the area, my weapon was automatically holstered and I was not able to use it. There were still bandits there and they were shooting me. I went back some hours later and was able to finish the quest.
Other than that, I don't know of any other broken quests. I experienced a lot of crashes and corruption of saved games with the latest patch. I still finished the game though, because it was so much fun.
After 2 more patches (the next one supposedly comes out on the 26th) I'll be purchasing the game. I suggest you at least wait for the next patch since it should be out fairly soon.
