If you haven't I suggest you get it while it's 50% off on Amazon. For a video game, the story is pretty amazing. I just finished it today and while it's a bit short I say it's easily worth the money. The game poses you with moral dilemmas more than any game I've played in recent memory, some of which can have really unnerving outcomes.

I honestly had no interest in the game before I picked it up. I played the demo and thought it was "decent" but after finally playing through the entire thing I must admit that I was completely blown away. It'll definitely be in my top 3 for the year on story alone.

Anyone else have some input?

Wow... was it really that good? Think I might have to pick it up and give it a try. I heard its a pretty good game, but I kind of just blew it to the side and didn't think much of it. I think i'll probably take that amazon deal.

Best story is a bit of a stretch imo. It's competent but not really that deep or detailed. Many of the moral "choices" aren't really choices. (Play chap 8 I think again and realise you are funnelled down the same path)

Story is full of full of plot holes. Gameplay is repetitive. The game deserve the score that it got here.

I would say it's one of the best this year at least. Not the best of this generation or anything but I would definitely say it mops the floor with every other modern military shooter story. I also think the way the dialog and chatter between your comrades changes from the beginning to the end is pretty cool. Hell even the executions get more gruesome the farther into the game you get. I appreciated those little things. Now keep in mind I neglected to mention the gameplay. Yes, it is very standard and not the best in it's class (especially coming from max payne 3) but I feel the story makes up for it.

I haven't played it yet, but the demo was intriguing and I hear nothing but praise about the story. Its a shame, Uncharted 3 and Max Payne 3 and such had really good stories as well, but also had great gameplay to back it up. The combat here is kind of "meh" in comparison and not nearly as satisfying as those titles, but its still fun.

I don't know the whole story, but the dialogue and setting are really well done and it does seem like it portrays the horror of war in a natural way instead of sort of forcing it in like Battlefield 3's "execution" scene that was obviously meant to shock, or MW3's "little girl blowing up" scene that was almost absurd in how pointless it was. You see the war affecting everyone, the good guys and bad guys aren't terms here since its not so black and white, and its really well done.

I'll probably give it a rent or buy it once it hits $20 or so.

Good fun game (currently up to Chapter 6 out of 13 Chapters).

Gameplay is fun, graphics are really good and the story is ok to keep you interested.

The setting is what takes the cake for me... Dubai under a sandstorm.... pretty original for the FPS market.

It also has some decision making situations which change the gameplay route depending on your choice.

Here's a review: http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/2k_games/spec_ops_the_line/429379 Like the article says though, be warned that the game is really sad and tackles depressing issues.

[QUOTE="Evz0rz"] I would say it's one of the best this year at least. I appreciate those little things and yeah I noticed them because they rarely happen in the genre. However I still class them as a fairly minor diversions for the genre, they could have done a lot more but seem fairly constrained to the expectations of the genre.

Imho, the last game to really step up from the traditional or standard third-person shooter setup was "Vanquish." Aside from Max Payne 3, which already had the foundation for gunplay and gun mechanics down, Rockstar did an excellent job with the RAGE tech to really give bullet-time and gunplay that extra edge. Spec Ops: The Line is your standard third-person shooter affair. The story is solid, but nothing profound to the genre and media. Is it worth $25? I'd say so.

i think it being a 3rd person and shoot and miltary shooter is why people dont seem interested in it(atleast from what i seen). perhaps if its was an semi open world they would. and why do you by nothing profound to the genre and media?

Does the game have multiplayer? I'm afraid I don't play Spec Ops games that much.
