If you going that far you might as well go all the way and get a new mobo! What are your current specs and what do you hope to acheive with your "new" rig?

i dont know what my current specs are, all i know is that halo looks like a BAD ps2 game on my computer and it lags like crazy. I didnt buy this machine with gaming in mind, but now I want to.

i looked up some of the stuff i posted earlier and the price came out to be like 400 something, and if I buy a new computer its gonna be over a grand. what else do you think I need? my main goal is to be able to play games and have them look at least half decent.

Are you building this PC yourself or are you going to buy one from a store. It's pretty simple to get a cheap store PC to play some games. The most important thing is the GPU. What make/model is your PC? Go into the start menu and right-click on My Computer, choose properties from the drop down menu and tell me what processor you are running, your OS, and how much memory you have installed.

Besides all that was said, eventually you're going to run Vista in the long run right?  If your current computer falls that short, get a new one

EDIT: You might even find one with Vista installed.  That would be even better
