So i have joined PC gaming again after 5 years. How you finding it?

ive jumped back into pc gaming after about 5 years and my word things have changed!

ive pre orderd football manager 2009 (soccer to us users) fallout 3 red alert 3 far cry 2

currently im playing crysis company of heroes and sim city 4

rig is in my sig tell me what you think but imsure ill be ok for a couple of years

im finding it hard playing crysis i cant seem to get my aim right maybe its becuase im used to console controls

so then what have you guys pre orderd and how are you finding pc gaming?

PC gaming = win.

I don't really pre-order, as the stores by mine don't ever seem to run out of games lol. But i am getting Lich King, Fallout 3, and Far cry 2 probably

i just got Crysis Warhead and Stalker CS..i finished Warhead in about 2 days..sucks because it was soo awesome i wanted it to last longer..i havent started CS yet..but ill get around to it.

Clear Sky feels like a very different game. SoC feels unfinished and unplayable after playing Clear Sky.

Hey man, welcome back! I was away from pc gaming for about 2 years and im loving being back in the thick of things hehe.

Some great new games (crysis, The Witcher, Team Fortress 2, stalker etc..) and some great ones i missed to (gothic 3, beyond good and evil,etc.).

Im loving pc gaming as much as i ever have man, couldnt be happyier (:

Plus we have Diablo3, Starcraft 2, Gothic 4 and other great games on the way:)

Not to mention LEFT 4 Dead, which looks to be another calssic from Valve. Online zombie coop action? Sounds soo sweet:P

Yea the only reason i hop onto a console from time to time is the Sports games (NHL 09, Skate and NBA 2k9) and some of the rpgs (Lost Odyssey and Tales Of Vesperia. Only thing I am preordering is Left 4 Dead and I will probally be getting Fallout 3 if Bethesda can make it a good shooter with rpg elements. Well, most of them haven't left the PC, just switched focus. And the money whores like Epic, the PC is probably better off without anyway... And they will probably still bring Gears 2 out for PC, because it will make them money.

This year IMO wasn't a very strong year for PC. Sins of a Solar Empire and Mass Effect were the only 2 games that had outstanding quality in every attribute IMO.

Good thing I bought Company of Heroes, Orange Box, and many other PC games this gen that kept me satisfied this year. 2009 however is shaping up to be a year of PC flagship titles and I can't wait for the new year.

Anyways, how much did all that cost? That is one hell of a computer and that should last you a very very very very long time. As for me, PC gaming is great. I got really into it when my cousin first introduced me to it. I actually first played computer games when I was 5 (Doom, had really bad nightmares) and some other games which I don't remember the name of, but when I came to the United States I became a XBOX person (normal one). I had 40+ games for my XBOX, but I sold some and now I have 30. I also got a 360 last year or so, and I must say, I haven't played either in months. Only thing I play is my PC. Crysis Warhead, Crysis Sandbox Editor, Area 51, Rise and Fall, and soon to be Fallout are the games I am playing right now.

to the TC: pc gaming is great, but that's not saying it's better than console. MOST of the major titles nowadays are multiplat, and many pc studios are heading towards a more console friendly direction in terms of design and marketing. if you ask me, spending money on that monstrous rig of yours isn't very wise IF you are not gaming on it exclusively.

what that said, this is still a fantastic platform. imo, RTS is your best bet for feeling the might of pc gaming. get the Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War series and i guarantee you would experience nothing you've even seen on console. :)

Once again...get the Orange Box. And while your at it if you havent yet play the original half-life and counter-strike 1.6

Also, bioshock for pc, way better looking and more fun to play. Check it out.

well, i've spent almost a decade on this platform so do yourself a favor and stop acting like you know better than i do.

you clearly didn't read my words or failed to understanding my reasoning. most of the majortitles are multiplat - FACT. most of the future major titles are going to be multiplat - FACT. i didn't mention anything about quality tho, so i can't help you there if you're feeling insecure.

being a working adult, i know how to commit to my hobbies in a cost-effective way, that's why i said it's not a thoroughly worthy investment to build that rig if he's not gaming on it exclusively. notice how the games the TC mentioned are mostly multiplat, and since the TC didn't express any specific interest in modding capabilities and massive multiplayer, i'm not about to automatically assume that he would find the pc versions "insanely better", despite your fervency.

i love my pc, but i'm not so narrow-minded as to realize there's a ton of great things to be said about console too. i can't afford to be bothered by adolescent elitists everytime i try to be fair in this stupid system war bonanza, and if you can't figure your way out of it and open up your mind, woe is you.

"Major" can mean a lot of things. When I read "most of the major titles", I don't necessarily read "most of the most popular titles". Most of the best games this year are not going to be released on consoles.

Being a working adult myself (oh noes, you are so condescending, implying that I'm a kid and all!), I know that some things in life are simply not worth it monetarily. Playing games on both PC and consoles is not one of those things (well, a case could be made for avoiding this generation of consoles until it is over and picking them up cheaply...). Also, while the TC didn't mention mods and multiplayer, he might still care about them, and there are other aspects of multiplatform games that a PC executes better (controls, graphics, etc.). Just look at the games he listed. Would you play Red Alert 3 and Far Cry 2 with a gamepad?

There's a huge difference between saying "great things about consoles too", and discouraging someone from playing games on PC because Gears of War and COD4 are on console too. You literally said that if one owns a console from this generation, he shouldn't bother getting a gaming PC. You were wrong, and I corrected you. You should thank me and start looking up some games, instead of endlessly flaming me in a huge post filled with hatred.

Building a high-end rig instead of a more "reasonable" one has nothing to do with console gaming. He likes pretty graphics and is willing to pay more for them. Telling him "your rig is not worth it, lol, just play those games on console" doesn't work this way either, I'm afraid. Your statement was wrong no matter how you look at it.

Oh and guess what? He's just not used to keyboard and mouse yet. When he will be, he probably won't look back. Also, it's interesting to see you ignored the RTS I named. ;)

It cost me around 1300 pound (about 2200 dollers + i think)altogether but i hate upgrading every now and again so thats why i spent a fair bit now. I have had my pc now for about a week and only have turned on my 360 for a bit of fifa 09 cant remeber when was the last time i played a game on the ps3 i just turn it on to see if there is any updates to the psn store

Hey NSR34GTR I like your system. I am moving more into PC Gaming, I have no pre-orders but I fancy things like Left 4 Dead, Far Cry 2, etc. I will see how it goes, I like with PC games I can buy them and play them months ahead still, I mean I still play Theme Hospital, Command and Conquer Red Alert, Dawn of War etc years after release and I do so with newer titles. I like the back catalouge and new games coming soon and I am on my PC often in spare time so I usually go on a game for a bit whilst on it.

I think I may order some games soon depending on my 360's situation as its 3 R.O.D and its on its way to Microsoft very soon I hope (I have placed my order with UPS to send it).
