Basically, did I make a stupid choice? I just saw a thread on here about the DirectX 11 cards from ATi are going to be released in September. Should I have waited?

Tell you what, Give it to me then you can get a direct 11 card when they come out
Nah, you made a great choice as most games don't even have support for 10 never mind 11
That's true. I guess I didn't think of that. Is it too late to take you up on that offer though? Maybe.. if you wait 6 or 7 months, I'll say yes. Deal?Tell you what, Give it to me then you can get a direct 11 card when they come out

well it could have been worse, u could have bought an ati card and then watch as its price drops in september :P
But overall, the 275 is good to have for now imo.
Think it'll last me for another year and a half? When I say last, I mean, set medium to high settings for the games being released til then.well it could have been worse, u could have bought an ati card and then watch as its price drops in september :P

Great! Even more contemplation on canceling my order.
What Dx 11 games? besides one, DIRT 2 that ive heard of? Believe me we wont see dx11 games until mid 2010.04dcarraher
Agreed. Don't cancel your order you'll love the new card... :)
Don't stress about it. And if you ahve the urge to keep up with the times, plenty of people willing to buy a 275 off of you. I have two Core 216's in SLI and a week after my order, nVidia rolled out the GTX 275. Plus, better to wait for the new upcoming cards to mature out and work out the kinks in drivers and so, and especially in price.
What I'm planning to do is when the new nVidia cards roll out, compare and see which is better (but I'll probably end up getting nVidia for convenience), slap in a GTX 385 or wahtever they are calling it, then use my Core 216's for PhysX or Folding @ Home. Pure genius eh?
ive made 2 upgrades this year. from 9800gt to gtx 260 to 2x gtx 275 :). ive sold my 9800gt and gtx 260, my other gtx275 is for my spare pc. my friend comes over to play arma 2 together. Im not planning on buying dx11 card on release as it will cost way to much. ill probably get it mid/late 2010. And when i do get my dx11 card. ill put the 2 gtx 275 in sli on my spare computer.
You should have waited. You could have gotten the same card cheaper, since all the old GPU will drop in price a little bit when the HD5850/70 comes out. Or you should have just bought a new ATI GPU since the performence would be much better. Some reports show that HD5870 is as powerfull as HD4870X2.
But I would not worry about it gtx275 is a good card so you should be fine.
i think that will last about 3 years, even more if you don't mind playing any future games with low / medium settings. my nvidia 8500 gt still can play a few latest games, but at low settings though. upgrade later, save your money on something else, like a game console, or buying more original games for the pc, though i'm sure you play all original, unlike me.
What brand did you get. If you got BFG or EVGA you are covered by the step-up program. 100 days for BFG 90 days for EVGA.opamandoI got the eVGA version of the card.
aWESome card you're not stupidjasopanIight, good to know.

whats this step up program?
There will always be that "better card" that's coming out, new technology just around the corner...don't stress about it, you've got a great card that'll last you quite some time...and even when those DX11 games do come out (and I don't think it'll be anytime soon), it's not like they won't support the card you have, there will probably just be some things missing/unavailable...nothing that'll ruing your gaming experience :)
