Sup?

So it goes a little something like this...

My Computer started telling me it was overheating, so I opened up the case, took my fan off and gave it a bit of a dust. Me, being the obvious genius that I am thought that would be enough to fix my overheating problems (Mind you, there was a shetload of dust behind my fan!) so I switched my computer on. I left it on overnight, and woke up to my computer turned off.

I switched it on and found that my computer couldn't even start up. At very best it got to the XP splash screen and then just froze. It wouldn't boot into safe mode either, so I guess you could say I started to panic. I pulled my case off again, and this time thought to check my precious 8600 GTS, since I realised I sort of missed it when I dusted the previous night. Switched my computer on and realised that the fan on my GPU wasn't spinning...at all.

Pulled the gpu out and now my computer runs fine...If you could call my integrated GeForce 6100 with 128mb of ram to be fine.

I figure I can probably buy a card that'll run even better than my old 8600 GTS for cheaper than what it cost me when I bought it.

I'm not really looking to spend more than $200 - $250, but I want to be able to play new games (GTA IV In Particular, bought it but couldn't run it!) smoothly on relatively high graphical settings. I'll probably be purchasing an extra gig (or two) of RAM pretty soon too, but a new graphics card is pretty essential.

Any suggestions on what I should buy?

The best you could probably get is the GTX 275 or HD 4890 for that price. But what Power supply do you have?

A 4890 or 275 seems about right to me. You should be able to play most games at high settings and still get good FPS :)
