This guy should talk more, we hardly hear a word out of him.

But to the OP, I'm glad you enjoy it. :)

I remember my life before Stalker.

It sucked so much and I didn't even know it.

Glad you've finally seen the light.

Better late than never. If you like them, although Clear Sky wasn't as good as the other two, it's still a good game for fans of the series. So don't miss out on it listening to all the haters that prefer consolized shooters.

The head bob can be configured via config file... Does stalker complete 2009 gimp performance? I tried it, and after leaving the trader my HD was thrashing and a slide show for the most part. Memory use didn't seem to be much more than vanilla stalker. Im re-installing vanilla to make sure that still works...

I wish I could see the light. I tried both STALKER1 and STALKER2, (STALKER1 twice) and just could not get into it. The weapons felt like all the same to me, and it wasn't very clear on tutorial on some things.

Yeah I really couldnt get into it either; for me the plot was not presented very well and the characters couldnt really hold my interest. Also most of the time all the npcs look the same either brown windbreaker or white windbreaker. Maybe the game gets better later on but I didnt get that far into it to know.

Maybe Stalker 2 will be able to do what Stalker 1 couldnt for me

The weapons suck so bad early into the game, though once you get even the most basic assault rifle is gets so much better. And the game isn't character drive, it most about getting sucked in the atmosphere, sandboxing and doing missions.

If you think Crysis is hard, you should probably steer clear. Personally, I think the STALKER games are rather easy (I recommend playing on the highest difficulty), but Crysis is much easier.

I found STALKER hard not in the actual gunplay part (although the AI seems pretty good), but the actual thing about walking around and not knowing exactly how to do things. See for example the first times I walked into a radiation bubble I died.... and there was no tutorial on how to avoid them or heal yourself. But like I said before, I never really could get into the game...

CoP is a disappointment after STALKER+Complete 2009 mod. The original felt so much more mysterious and carried the atmosphere much better than the prequel and sequel. I bought CoP, but never finished it. I'm waiting for the complete mod for CoP to be released. They said they were working on it.

I was really overwhelmed by the number of quests and NPCs. I think that alone discouraged me to keep going. That, sub-par graphics without mods and I'm not a sandbox fan to begin with. At least I gave it a try!

I totally understand where you're coming from, but after playing vanilla World of Warcraft for a year after it released, I just cant stand fetch it quests. I'm not saying STALKER has only fetch it quests but you catch my drift. And it's not STALKER's fault that I played WoW either. It just isn't for me.

That is one of the things I love most about Stalker - you're forced to learn your way around the zone on your own. I'm replaying complete 2009 right now on the hardest difficulty and breezing through the game by just knowing exactly how anomalies work and when to fight versus when to run and so on. In a way it kind of takes away from the experience but the gunplay is still solid and the AI makes for interesting enough fights, especially in some of the larger scale ones.

Well i've ben playing the game since it came out.

The thing about this game is the actual game-world. Its a very different place from most games, because it doesn't treat you like a important person, in most FPS's the game-world usually revolves around your character, in this game you are treated like just another weak stalker, and if you are not carefull and very smart about your next move, you will die and be frustrated countless times.

Basically, the game, as a WHOLE, is not that similar to classic modern FPS. Its more like a Survival/FPS/RPG type of a game, with a grim deep atmosphere and sad post-apocalyptic world were life is a fight for survival.

If you think Crysis is hard, you should probably steer clear. Personally, I think the STALKER games are rather easy (I recommend playing on the highest difficulty), but Crysis is much easier.

I thought Clear Sky was pretty hard solely because you'd needa bandage every single time you got shot, and to add to that there was a constant shortage of bandages in the game. I only barely made the end of the game as I ran out of supplies and money way too early.

But yeah, I thought the STALKER games were pretty manageable to beat once I knew what I was doing, but somehow they did make me sweat a lot and I still see them as pretty damn challenging for as far as shooters go. Crysis was easy, though.

Shadow of Chernobyl is really a game unlike any other I remember playing. Every moment is tense because you never know what might be around the corner waiting to attack you. Interested to play Call of Pripyat after I finished the first game. I'm taking it very slow and steady.

Hmm, it seems most people who like stalker, do so because its not an easy game. Ok that but i wouldnt call it amazing, all the rest are at decent quality, excluding some gameplay unbalances and bugs. Personally i had more dislike for the quality of the singleplayer campaign and the overall quality of the product rather wherever the difficulity was low or high. I mean, in all games you can adjust difficulity. Anyway a good game but i just cant see what is so amazing in that low budget european fps.

Also on the "god" thingy, every time i play a stalker game i got my ass kicked in the early begining thanks to the crappy weapons and armors and i kill everyone and everything later on, once i get decent weapons and armor. I literally shoot my rifle and enemies go down as opposing to missing in the begining and taking alot of damage. So a warning tc, you might turn into a god later on too, because the truth being told...stalker is unfairly easy in the begining, it gets easier later.

Oh and in that thingy, i found crysis to be much harder than stalker.Iin crysis my health goes down fast, which also happens in stalker but i got plenty medkits that heal instantly and armors that take much more hits later on. Also you constantly get better and better weapons that are more dependable to a too good state. So yeah i thought crysis was kinda hard but stalker was much easier. So as reply to demonic 85, perhaps you also find it easier since shooting mechanics are much easier than crysis and if you stick to your guns you can carefully shoot your way out much more sucessfully.

The S.TA.L.K.E.R series are great, too bad i got scared when the bloodsucker popped out for the first time in SoC and stopped playing :(

i've been playing clear sky ever since because it has less mutants and more faction wars :P

but I'm thinking of giving SoC another chance.

I've tried to beat SoC about three times, with me stopping everytime at the first lab you get to (X16? X15?). This is either because I don't have the time to invest into this game, or because I get kinda... scared to play. That game is probably the only game that has ever scared me. Not that its like horror kinda scary, but every encounter could be life or death, coupled with the fact that everyone else is just as competent in a gunfight as you are.

I'm going to have to wait for a three day weekend where I'm off of school and get that out of my pile of shame.

Recoil in Crysis doesn't matter that much due to the little bullet spread as you can just take your time so that every kill is a one shot headshot.

I literally shoot my rifle and enemies go down as opposing to missing in the begining and taking alot of damage. So a warning tc, you might turn into a god later on too, because the truth being told...stalker is unfairly easy in the begining, it gets easier later.dakan45
STALKER is "unfairly" easy in the beginning? And it gets easier? Did you play the game with AI off?
What exactly is unfairly easy?

Nevermind, he hates the game, we`ve been through this before. I guess he (and everyone else)should install Oblivion Lost Ultimate at least once and play the game on master difficulty. No matter what armor you`d have one shot from an assault rifle over 300yards kills you...I`ve yet to see another game where enemies actually don`t want to die and want to kill you so badly.

The S.TA.L.K.E.R series are great, too bad i got scared when the bloodsucker popped out for the first time in SoC and stopped playing :(

i've been playing clear sky ever since because it has less mutants and more faction wars :P

but I'm thinking of giving SoC another chance.

If that bloodsucker scared you, you'll just love the X-18 labs.

I bought this during the Steam weekend sale and I'm really enjoying it. I'm using the complete mod.

It's a bit rough around the edges, and I thought it started off pretty weak. But it gets better. A lot better. The gunplay is a excellent and it has a really bleak setting that's not quite like anything I've seen.

It helps that I'm finally getting better equipment. I now have a Stalker suit and a scoped Lee-Enfield. The guns you get in the beginning of the game are garbage.
