And replace it with (probably) Avast, but I'm not sure how to go about this. Help?

Thanks

It works! Now running a full-system scan, and it is still using almost 1 gig less memory than Norton did while idle. Thanks all!

I like Avast, but I decided to try out Microsoft Security Essentials, which is free. I have to say, I am very impressed with it!

Problem with the MSE it doesn't catch sh**! Go with another, I too thought the Microsoft one was the **** or whatever..but come to find out it's crap, at least for my liking. I'm use to Kaspersky..but I've been using alternatives because I don't feel like paying $70 again.
