and I'm curious if anyone could give me a few pointers as to the best way to handle overclocking. I plan on doing a pretty modest overclock, nothing too serious at least for now. I have done several searches on overclocking core 2's and havent really found a whole lot of useful information. Does anyone know good sites I should be referring for this? Anything you guys can tell me will help at this point, just wanna make sure I'm treating my precious good while amping it up! :P      Here's my computer stats:

*E6600 Core 2 Duo  *MSI 975x Platinum motherboard  *2Gb Mushkin RAM  *eVGA 8800GTS *Thermaltake Toughpower 700watt PSU

I think my main question at this point are how safe am I to overclock with an Aquagate 80 http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/Products.aspx?pid=1107 CPU cooling, 2 fans and the stock thermalpaste applied by Ibuypower (whatever kind they may use on a gamers computer)? Thanks for any help you guys can give...

dude, my PC sucks compared to yours and I'm happy with how nicely it runs games. I haven't even thought about overclocking. Just leave it like it is, it can already probably run every game out at near max res/settings.

lol, it does quite nicely in all honesty... but as they say, curiosity killed the cat. Regardless I still want to overclock this computer a hair or two. Maybe get it up to the 3.0Ghz region. I'm sure I'd still be pretty safe with a light overclocking to that level wouldn't I?

It does look like that will work , 3.0 ghz you shouldn't need a voltage jump, so just go in your bios and raise that fsb it should be under advanced bios options or something like that, theres a multiplier, I don't know what yours it should be like 10 or something, so just raise the fsb, and it will be multiplied by your multiplier. 3.0 ghz should be easy on that cooler, but I think i saw that in a prebuilt like alienware, so it should be fine.

Well you can go ahead and overclock, Just to learn it.... But I got to say, your PC is pretty strong, You will probably only notice a minimal difference.

Damn hippies...

Yeah, it's quite possible it will. I will probably wait a bit until I get more information in my skull about the whole overclocking scene. I dont want to damage anything that's for sure. Thanks for the input guys...
