I've been gaming happily on my 32" Inch Samsung SD tv with my PS3. But I've finally gotten around to getting an HD TV. We've choosen between a 38" Visio 1080" or a 42 inch 1080 Visio. But thats not my point. What exactly will I need to set up my playstation with my TV. I also have DISH network to hook up to it. I know I need an HDMI but is there anything else important I need to know. (I will be picking up the tv within the next few days)

I'd go with LG. Vizio isn't that great. My friend's Vizio performance has degraded and a few dead/dying pixels.

Your gonna need some external speakers also. Flatscreen Tvs speakers suck. Just grab a 2.1 Pc speaker set and your good.

If you can, a plasma is much better (When its from Panasonic, LG, or Samsung.) If you must go under 42" or can't find a plasma in stock, then go with LG. I think they make the best LCDs currently. Vizios are...well they're crap. I don't know any other way to put it.

Are they really that bad, I've seen good reviews and I've got a friend who likes his he's had it for a year. If I went LG I'd downgrade 10 inchs unless I can find a good deal they're pretty expensive at the best buy here. And Im tight for money right now.

Whats your budget? And yes the cheap Vizios are terrible quality and reliability.

Just go with the Vizio then. In general, they don't have the best picture and build quality but they are OK. Sony is pretty good at the lower price range, specifcally the EX401.

Yeah we are probably going to buy a 47 inch Vizio as well. It has Netflix and other apps built in which is cool. And my cousin recently bought a 42 inch Vizio and we agree it looks great.

Ugh I have people telling me Vizio is great and people telling me its crap. Im looking for something I can play 8 straight hours of Mass effect 2 on. For around 300-450 U.S dollars 500 if its worth it. Also Do I need 1080p? I heard most PS3 games run in 720p anyway.

Buy one at Walmart, use it for a week or two, and if your not satisfied just return it. The great thing about Walmart is that they have a very laid back return policy. Don't judge the picture quality by the ones they have on display however since they tend to use the same signal for all the tv's and the result is that they all look like crap.
