They are lagg'n "Runes Of Magic" is still the best F2P MMO i checked out LoTR and it's just doesn't have it. If you think LoTR is great then you should check out RoM i would give it the 2nd best MMO over all, behind the King WoW BUT RoM is FREE. Thats until Star Wars The Old Republic and Guildwars 2 are released.

The initial download is 10GBs. They use Pando P2P software for the download, so you can pause/resume.

Actually I would think that folks who liked World of Warcraft (but cannot afford a sub, or no longer wish to sub) would get more enjoyment out of RoM than folks who really enjoy LotRO. Thats my opinion of course.

So how do you get your money back from the purchase in the first place? Bought the game last year.

Isn't RoM heavily cash shop dependent?

Yes and no, you don't need to spend RL money at all, you can buy shop things with in game gold from players.

Eh...

http://www.lotro.com/betasignup/vipchart.html

Free version looks too restricted for my taste.

I was looking at it too. I couldnt find any decent info on the site describing how you to be Premium or VIP. I read that if you buy anything at all, you get upgraded to premium. But then I read elsewhere that Premium is a month-to-month STATUS....

So, my question is to be VIP you have to continue to pay a monthly fee?

And to be premium, is it a 1 time purchase or do you need to make continual purchases?

I have been playing it. Just hit 16 on my hunter and I am really liking it alot so far. I played the game a bit during beta but never really gave it much of a chance. I am having a blast now though

My characters name is Infamouse on the server Crickhollow if anyone ends up on that server :P

One real money purchase makes you Premium for the life of the account. VIP is just fancy for Subscriber.
