I played CoP for about 33 hours, and I have to say, its a pretty good game no doubt, but I was kind of forced to start following the story related missions because I had nothing else to do D=

But what I wanted to ask was, Why does everyone hate Clear Sky?

I just dont understand, I played it after playing CoP for so long and I have to say that I was impressed.
The interface imo is far better than Pripyats, and than after 5 hours, I decided to get Clear Sky Complete, and that only made it better =P
The pacing seems to be alittle quick, but theres nothing wrong with that imo, and I still find atmosphere in slowly walking up to an enemy 'camp,' or group whatever, in a storm, and trying not to be seen until I'm ready to strike. Or running into a random mutant while moving through the brush.

I don't know if it was alot of people played it on release and it was buggy or what, but even though its kind of paced fast, I cant imagine why people dont like it considering it does indeed still have atmosphere, and it has good combat situations where you actually have some buddies (whom even continue to get things done without you, which may be odd in a game, but its reasonable. The world doesnt sit still because you are off wandering around gathering supplies, this is war =0)

I just wanted to know what you thought of Clear Sky, and if you have tried it AFTER release where it was no longer buggy?

I personally find it awesome, and so far, even though the rushing may get alittle annoying later, I like it alittle bit more than Pripyat, but hey, shoot me. =D

Yeah cop is a great game. Why i hate clear sky? Story is a mess, the ending is the worst i have ever seen. Guns sound like bb guns and damage as much. Its buggy as hell even with the 10th patch i was using back then when i had no issue with the other 2 games. Too much shooting rather exploring. The upgrades are meh. I stupidly spend alot of time in the swamps to get alot of money and i was robbed at the garbage  No g36 no fn 2000. Homing grenades, every time you fall or take a hit you start bleeding and medkits dont have bandages. Thats why.

Once you get the Kevlar armor or whatever it is that you get as a reward before you leave the swamps, you don't bleed with every shot. Also, when it comes to the guns, I was actually able to use the pistol atleast, in CoP pistols are useless.

CS had a really boring and uninteresting story for starters. The game itself was an unfair callenge from start to finish. The new ideas in CS are poorly executed and don't relate well to the first game. I think the biggest complaint I have is that you still need to run through the majority of the game with night vision to survive. I think that was the first thing they should have improved considering that the majoirty of CS takes place in the open areas.

Another main problem about CS is that it isn't scary. It lacks the psycological horror that the first game had. It weakens the game as a whole because of the lack of monsters and spooky images. Most of the game is frustating fights with humans.

I like all the STALKER games. In Clear Sky, I didn't like the heat-seeking, radar-locking grenades (GRENADA! - holy ****, run like crazy, hide behind a wall, and 3 of them still land on your big toe). Also, the ending was clearly rushed. However, I don't believe it's as bad as some people go on about. Of course, I didn't play it until far after the release date (somehow missed it completely). It was patched up pretty good by the time I played it. Personally, I liked the hectic firefights.

I don't hate it, although it is definitely an odd change of pace. The story is really really meh, it is relatively buggy even with the newest patch, AI are masters with grenades and guns are pretty weak. I got over this and quite enjoyed the game though, just isn't my favorite STALKER game.

Oh I should also mention it had no atmosphere, well, next to none.

So, carry some bandages or scavenge some. They're everywhere. Bleeding is a non-issue IMHO.

The main reasons for disliking CS are usually:

- Story is kind of a mess, or rather there seems to be a somewhat lack of story that is easily understandable unless you playied SoC first.

- Nearly all maps and locations were recycled from SoC, so most people who went out and bought CS after Soc, felt like it was a cheap rehash.

- The nades (enemy)were a bit rough it seems, never the biggest problem for me, but I do acknowlage that they felt a bit "off"

- There was less of an emphathis on exploration, and dark brooding things, and more on action, you could say it was not really in the STALKER spirit, to play "forts" like that. In truth factions batteling ARE in the stalker spirit, but the implementation was far worse then most people saw in the SoC mods.

I dont think anyone thought CS was a bad game, but Compared to SoC and CoP it is just "less". Storywise you could skip it because it gave nothing you diddnt know allready (I know it is a prequal, but it was all explained in SoC anyways) And there were nothing we had not seen before (ok there were guides and upgradable weapons and armor, but both of those are better done in CoP)

It was simply too similar to what we playied the year before, and too little new things to call it a really good game.

Luckily the Clear Sky Complete mod added a sleeping bag so you could sleep up to 12h. There is also a "Wish Granter" that let's you spawn pretty much any item in the game (I used it sparingly because I didn't want to ruin the experience, but I was able to spawn a G36 near the end of the game as well as vehicles that let me drive around the Zone). I liked Clear Sky a lot as well, I only just played it recently though and I never technically played it vanilla since I added the Clear Sky Complete mod right off the bat. From the sounds of things a lot has changed with the game since it was first released, and I only ever had one crash to desktop and that was well after I had beaten the game an I was just fooling around with the Wish Granter. My main problem with both CS and COP is that neither found a good balance between combat and exploration. CS, as others have mentioned, was way more combat focused and we were never really able to go down into the labs or underground to get our pants scared off (except for like a half hour at most). COP on the other hand was very much focused on wandering the Zone and exploring, but there hardly seemed to be any combat. The first 2 hours of CS seemed to have more combat than all of COP combined. If someone could mod the enhancements to inventory and weapon upgrades into SOC, as well as the graphics which has already been taken care of, then I feel it would still be the best in the series.

I remember discussing this with someone else and we both run out og bandages. Plus its annoying to use bandages all the damn time. Oh and i agree with Maddie, the recycled areas kinda turned me down, when i reached cordon i stop playing for a couple of days. I had seen this area way too many times.

If you play Clear Sky with the Complete mod it is so much better. I'm doing a second playthrough and I love it.
